What is the right choice? If you had to make a decision would you follow your heart or head? Two poems written by different authors both leave the main characters feeling conflicted with making the right choice. The main characters are faced with a decision that cause them to think within themselves. In “The Fish” by Elizabeth Bishop it's stated “I admired his sullen face, the mechanism of his jaw." Through looking more in depth at the fish the main character began to form a connection with the fish through their own personal feelings. The main character is forming a bond with the fish this can be seen in line “I looked into his eyes which were far larger than mine but shallower, and yellower.” By the main character comparing the fish features to their own we can see a bond that form with the main character and the fish. Verse the poem called “traveling through the dark” ending result came from the main character rationalizing the situation within their own mind. In the fish poem the poems main character has something that sparks their decision. It is stated in the fish poem "filled up victory the little rented boat, from the pool of bilge where oil had spread a rainbow." Seeing the oil age from the boat form the rainbow the speaker was full with emotion. Their feelings from within impacted their final decision which was to release the fish\.
