William Shakespeare illustrates how Macbeth corrupts himself in the play, Macbeth. Even with others influencing him, Macbeth ultimately makes the decisions that lead to his own corruption. After the three witches talk to Macbeth and Banquo, Macbeth makes the conclusion that he must kill the king and nobody else contributes to that. Later on, Macbeth decides to have his friend, Banquo, murdered because his son was a threat to the throne. The last sign of his self corruption comes when Lady Macbeth ends up having a weak mind which lead to her death and Macbeth did not care.

This shows that Lady Macbeth isn’t really that much in control over Macbeth. Someone who disagrees might say that Lady Macbeth used to be strong minded and corrupted Macbeth before falling victim to the mental illness, but it is likely that Lady Macbeth has always had a weak mind. We can tell that she has a weak mind when the doctor says, “Infected minds to their deaf pillows will discharge their secrets. More needs she the divine than the physician.” (5.2.76-78) It is clear that Macbeth is so evil, he doesn’t feel sad about the death of Lady Macbeth when he says, “She should have died hereafter. There would have been a time for such a word.” (5.5.20-21) He just wishes she had died at a better time.
In conclusion, the play, Macbeth, which was written by William Shakespeare, demonstrates the power of self corruption and tells about the self corruption of Macbeth. By killing the king, plotting the murder of Banquo, and not feeling sad about the death of his wife, it is evident that Macbeth corrupted
