People disappear for several reasons; it could be to start a new life, it could be to hide from someone or it could be because someone doesn’t want you found. This paper is about the disappearance of Yessenia Suarez and her two children. Can the police determine if a crime was committed and by whom? This paper will describe the evidence and the timeline of events in the case.
The relationship between Luis Toledo and Yessenia Suarez was rocky; there had been incidences where Toledo brandished a knife and destroyed furniture (Fernandez, 2014). The day Suarez went missing coworkers reported an altercation between Toledo and Suarez, learning of an affair his wife was having with a coworker he went to her place of employment to confront her. Toledo’s temper flared and he slapped Suarez in the face. Yessenia Suarez was having an affair with a married coworker named Kevin Dredden (Fernandez, 2014).
On the day Yessenia Suarez and her 2 children went missing Kevin Dreddin was the last one to talk to her, which was at 12:49 a.m. Felicita Perez, Suarez’s mother, says she became concerned when she had not heard from her daughter; she had the Sheriff’s Office do a well check. Perez says she talks to her daughter on the phone every morning and when she didn’t answer the phone on October 22, 2014 she was worried. While the police were investigating Luis Toledo comes home and they take him into custody.
Investigators found small traces of blood in the master bathroom of the couple’s home. The blood matches that of Suarez’s daughter, Thalia Otto (Davis & Saenz, 2014) . Toledo admits to killing Yessenia Suarez during an argument. He claims Suarez became aggressive and he hit her in the throat; killing her. He also says he did...

He visited his ex-girlfriend when she was working as a coat-check at an illegal bar in the Bronx called Happy Land Social Club. Rand was the prime suspect in this case. Although they never proved Andre killed her, little Alicia was never seen again. There isn't much to his next victim. Her name was Audrey Lyn Nerenberg, and she was 18 years old. Just like Alicia, Audrey was never seen again after the day she went missing in 1977. In 1981, Holly Ann Hughes, a seven-year-old girl did not return home after she went with a friend to get candy from a local store. She did not return home after her mother sent her to get groceries. Tiahease was last seen on August 14th, 1983. This was 12 days after Andre was released from a previous prison sentence. We are, probably, all interested in finding out the facts, news, and gossips about Mexico. This country was always associated with something mysterious. For me personally, the title of the book seemed to be very gripping, I was interested in revealing the secrets of life in Mexico, thus I decided to read this book. I was really curious, what can Alfredo Corchado tell me about the life in this country, the country, where the constant massacre is the picture, people used to see. In his book, the author tells the reader about the real situations, which took place in Mexico, reveals the secrets of the people’s lives and tells the story from the “inside”. He describes the way he lives his life, and does his work. The " Midnight in Mexico: A Reporter's Journey through a Country's Descent into Darkness” is a memoir. Author tries to transform his own experience into the story line. Corchado shows the reader the darkest episodes of Mexican society, while relying on his own experience.
On July 15th, 2008, Caylee Anthony was reported missing by her grandmother Cindy Anthony. Cindy Anthony in the report stated that she hadn’t seen her grand-daughter Caylee for a month and that she and her husband were suspicious because their daughter Casey’s car reeked of decay, as if a dead body had been stored inside the vehicle for days. Caylee and her mother resided with Casey Anthony’s parents. However, Cindy Anthony claimed that Casey had given different explanations about Caylee's whereabouts before telling Cindy that she hadn’t seen her own daughter for several weeks. When questioned by authorities, Casey told the detectives several lies: stating the child had been kidnapped by her nanny on June 9, and that Casey had been trying to contact the nanny to find her daughter. The emotional letter that Juan left for his mother might be one of the most emotional scenes in the documentary. The pure emotions that the letter was written by Juan to her mother leaves the audience with the bonds and emotions felt between the kids and families. Juan Carlos’s father abandoned the family years ago and left to New York, consequently Juan believe it is his responsibility to provide for his family. He also wants to find his father in New York and confronts him about why he has forgotten about them. The story of Juan is not just about migration of children, but also the issue of family separation. The documentary does not dehumanize but rather bring the humane and sensitive lens to the story of Juan where the human drama that these young immigrants and their families live. Juan Carlos is not the first of Esmeralda’s sons to leave for the United states, his nine-year-old brother Francisco was smuggled into California one month earlier. Francisco now lives with Gloria, his grandmother, who paid a smuggler $3,500 to bring him to Los Angeles, California. Once Juan Carlos is in the shelter for child migrants his mother eagerly awaits him outside. After she sees him she signs a paper that says if Juan Carlos tries to travel again, he will be sent to a foster home.
History usually forces itself into the present in Juan Jose Campanella’s film “El Secreto De Sus Ojos” (The Secret in Their Eyes). Although it was filmed in 2009, the story is an attempted memorization of the violent reality in 1970-1980s Argentina, an era in which the country was rapidly sinking into military rule-ship. Campanella offers flashbacks into Argentina’s dark days, a period where violence homicide, rape and injustices ruled. Through memory, the film narrate a era in which it was impossible to be an innocent person as the innocents were falsely accused, tortured and even murdered for crimes they never committed, all these for the whims of those in power. Even though, the film is set in the 1970s, it does not call immediate attention to the animosity, the hopeless feeling and the constant struggle between the desire to forget vs. the attempts to remember the chaos and confusion of these years. However, through the use of memory Campanella allow the views to portray an almost perfect picture of what happened in Argentina.
To begin with the story “The Censors” by Luisa Valenzuela was written to depict an event that was happening in the world at the time. In which was the time when Argentina overthrew the government in 1976. The new government was strict and killed thirteen to fifteen thousand innocent without even giving them the chance because the government feared that the poor would eventually try to overthrow the government. With that in mind, the main character in our story Juan begins with a conflicting that he is facing internally. Juan was worried about whether or not the letter he sent to Marina would make it to her house safely or would they become a victim to the government. On July 20, 2017, an article was written by Chris Harris of People Crime entitled, “Georgia Mom Accused of Fatally Stabbing Husband, Kids Told Surviving Daughter She Was Going 'to See Jesus’”. 33-year-old Isabel Martinez, a Georgia woman, is being accused of a knife attack that took place late Thursday night on July 6, 2017. The entire family was sleeping, when Martinez allegedly stabbed her husband, Martin Romero, 33; including her 5 children, Isabela Martinez, 10; Dacota Romero, 7; Dillan Romero, 4; Axel Romero, 2; and lone survivor, Diana Romero, 9. Author Steve Lopez persuade his readers to accept his idea of finding the brutally beaten victim that many witness during the riot, the author does so by finding Fidel and having his story told, which in my perspective was a success, because Fidel was meant to have his story told so a great outcome would occur. In addition as the reader it kept me alert and curious to know more. Fidel Lopez argument was to remain undiscovered as a victim of the LA riot which persuade me because Fidel’s daughter Vanessa stated in the article “ He does things his way, doesn’t like asking for help and is more interest in providing for his family than revisiting the past” (Lopez, pg. 5). This statement was well brought out because Fidel did not do it for his family, the fame, nor for the sadness people would feel for him. After Machado was identified as being responsible for the email hate crime, and after he denied any involvement he disappeared, and his roommates’ car was stolen. Machado was believed to have stolen it. Machado was caught early in 1997 trying to sneak back into the U.S. from Mexico where he had fled to. He had hoped to work and continue with life in Mexico. Each year, thousands of women disappear or are killed as a result of sexual violence. In the crime fiction Backyard: El Traspatio, director Carlos Carrera initially depicts femicide in Ciudad Juarez as a consequence of isolated gang violence, but gradually presents the crisis as a byproduct of transnational economic collusion, governmental inadequacy, and masculine aggression. ...all want to believe that the crime was truly “foretold”, and that nothing could have been done to change that, each one of the characters share in a part of Santiago Nasar’s death. Gabriel Garcia Marquez writes about the true selfishness and ignorance that people have today. Everyone waits for someone else to step in and take the lead so something dreadful can be prevented or stopped. What people still do not notice is that if everyone was to stand back and wait for others, who is going to be the one who decides to do something? People don’t care who gets hurt, as long as it’s not themselves, like Angela Vicario, while other try to reassure themselves by thinking that they did all that they could, like Colonel Lazaro Aponte and Clotilde Armenta. And finally, some people try to fight for something necessary, but lose track of what they set out for in the first place.
Martinez’s story is not so much one that pieces together the events of the crash, nor the lives of the three youths, but it is an immigrant’s tale, discovered through the crossings of the various Chavez family members and profiles of Cheranos in Mexico.
