No, it’s not: it can be very hard to pick, but it is pickable.”- Mikko Hypponen This question has been asked many times. I have given a presentation on locks before and this was asked. I have heard people say that certain locks unpickable. Locksmith have been around since the time of the Egyptians, the future holds a lot of digital world with a new/different view for locksmith, but training is required to become a locksmith.
I got into locks when I started showing magic tricks. Harry Houdini is a big role model. He was well known as an escape artist and magician. In becoming a locksmith you need to know certain skills. Required skills to become a locksmith can be received by diplomats from community colleges, or state locksmith association. They teach students how to pick different kinds of locks, repair locks, duplicate keys, test security locks after they have been installed, and know the mechanics of locks.
Some training can take three months or four years, depending on what they are specializing. Some states require licensing, some require background check, or fingerprints, but it all depends on the state requirements. You can receive different levels of certifications that will show your different levels of experience, knowledge or skill set. On certifications there are different levels, which you can take. There are Registered locksmith (RL), Certified automotive locksmith (CAL), Certified registered locksmith (CRL), Certified professional locksmith (CPL), Certified master locksmith (CML). On certification for a RL to pass the test you need only, at least a seventy percent or higher. On higher levels of certifications the minimum to pass the test is
