Lionel Frederick Cole, also known as Freddy Cole, is an American pianist and jazz singer. He was born to Paulina and Edward Cole 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. He was brought up in Chicago by his music loving parents alongside his other two siblings: Nat King Cole, Ike Cole and Eddie Cole. He was born in a family of musicians; his father was a renowned musician as well as his two elder brothers Ike Cole and Nat King Cole, both of whom were legends of jazz music. Freddy Cole is the founder of Freddy Cole Quartet – a jazz team which extensively tours Europe, United States, South America and Far East to stage live performances on a regular basis.

The duo worked together to record jingles for the corporations and large companies across the American and European continents. Some of these include Turner Classic Movies.
Cole hit the peak of musical career in mid 70s. He recorded and released so many albums for both the American and European labels. It has been established that the musical styles of Freddy Cole were greatly influenced by some other prominent classical jazz artists such as Billy Eckstine, Teddy Wilson, Oscar Peterson and John Lewis. In his interview with the Chicago Tribune, Freddy Cole revealed that Billy Eckstine was a great source of inspiration to him; he truly got inspired by just sitting around and watching the fantastic entertainer stage his live jazz musical performances.
From time of his induction into the Georgia Music hall of Fame in 2007, Freddy Cole has been vibrant in the scenes of jazz music. He has closely worked with members of his quartet to conduct live jazz performances at the Lincoln Center in the United States. The quartet also performs in Europe once in a while.
