This Experiment is a way of successfully viewing the emission spectra for metal carbonates. By heating the carbonates electrons go from there normal state called ground state to a higher energy state called excited state and the difference in electron energy gap of each metal carbonate makes up the difference of colours. This excited state is not a stable state but while in this state the atom gains additional energy but the variation of energy emitted is a characteristic of that in particular element. In this state the electrons emit photons which is the energy that corresponds to light wavelengths and therefore produces the different light emissions. “he was just a little turd in prison grays. Looked like a stiff breeze could blow him over. That was my first impression of the man.” The arrival of Andy in Shawshank Prison was the point of no return for him. Darabont uses this scene as a reality check for Andy which makes him feel extremely small quickly. Darabont does this by using high angle shots of the guards high up with guns showing how insignificant Any is now compared to them. This is also shown in the close up shots of Andy showing his concern and his darting eyes trying to take in all the information. The background music plays throughout this scene isn’t cheerful, but paints a picture of uncertainty and inhibition for times to come. It is also instrumental and is completely different to the opening scene “If I didn’t care”. When approaching the prison building Darabont uses Andy’s point of view shot/ low angle shot looking up to show how intimidating the prison is. When they are outside it is light, especially Andy’s last glimpse before he goes inside into the darkness is symbolic. When inside Darabont uses the delousing powder to follow the theme of controlling and almost ownership over him from there onwards they can do anything to him and get away with
We were the lords of all creation. As for andy he spent that break hunkered in the shade, a strange little smile on his face, watching us drink his beer." This quote shows how little things teh prisoners get can make them happy.Another example would be when he used the hammer to escape from prison. It started when he asked Red to get him a rok hammer, which he said he would use to shape rocks. He calms Red's conscious as he tells it would take him a thousand years to break out of prison with a rosk hammer. When he received the rosk hammer he started to shape rocks as soon as he could and hidden that hole with a poster. After he had the hole big enough to crawl throught, he asked Heywood for a six-foot piece of rope.
War was one of the most difficult and brutal things a society could ever go through. World War II was especially terrible because it affected so many people.World War II was centered in Europe and the people of the European countries felt the effects much more than many of the other countries that were also participating in the world war. In the book All the Light We Cannot See written by Anthony Doerr, the story took place during World War II in Europe, the center stage for the war. This war was one of the most difficult wars because it destroyed homes, displaced thousands, tore families apart, killed off loved ones, and forced people to make tough decisions they had to live with for the rest of their lives. In All The Light We Cannot See,
Andy didn’t know from the get go that he was going to escape from a hole he dug in the wall. In fact he didn’t know he was going to escape at all. But he always had hope that he would leave the Shank. This is evident in how he had taken his money and saved it from getting washed away by the on coming hurricane. Also, he had his good friend set up a bank account for his new identity. He kept this hope of getting out although it changed a few times. At first it was just hope of getting out somehow, then it was escaping, for a brief time it came back to getting out legitimately when he met Tommy Williams. It got to Andy when the warden crushed that hope by transferring Tommy, but he didn’t give up. His hope went right back to escaping through that little hole he dug.
The film stars Tim Robbins as Andrew 'Andy' Dufresne and Morgan Freeman as Ellis Boyd 'Red' Redding. The film portrays Andy spending nearly two decades in Shawshank State Prison, a surreal house of correction in Maine and his friendship with Red, a fellow inmate, which gradually develops over the years. Consequently the three reasons that the director wanted to produce this movie are to reveal hope, despair and integrity. Red describes the reasons eloquently: “All I know for sure is that Andy Dufresne wasn’t much like me or anyone else I ever knew. . . . It was a kind of inner light he carried around with him.”
The presence of Andy Dufresne made Red’s time in Shawshank more bearable. He was interesting, different. Andy gave a change from the regular routine of prison life since the day he arrived. Red describes Andy, “His fingernails were always clipped, and they were always clean...it seems to sum Andy up for me” (17). Even after losing everything, Andy always tried to keep himself neat and clean. He was different than the other prisoners. Red states, “In all
This film is al about when Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), an innocent banker, is sent to prison for a double life sentence. He makes friends while inside, his closest friend becoming Ellis Boyd Redding (Morgan Freeman) or ‘Red’ as his friends call him. Andy suffers with quiet dignity. To keep this under control, he continues with his favourite hobby, which just so happens to be geology. After 20 years of his sentence, he becomes the first prisoner to ever escape from Shawshank. Also he manages to have the Warden (Bob Gunton) found out for all of his crimes.
Shawshank was far from being a rehabilitative place it only ever managed to drag prisoners down a deeper darker hole, then the one they had gotten themselves into it the first place. People like Andy who had come to Shawshank innocent turned to illegal activities in order to stay alive and not lose their minds. Corruption of justice is still relevant in today’s society whether in court, at school, or even in your own houses. At Shawshank the cause of this corruption was the greed of the prison authorities, and the extortion and abuse they put the prisoners through physically, mentally, and emotionally.
“Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption”, taken from the collection Different Seasons published in 1982, is one of Stephen King’s most acknowledged works. The novella is written from the perspective of Red, an inmate of Shawshank State Penitentiary, who recalls the story of Andy Dufresne, his friend and fellow inmate. Dufresne, a banker from Maine, is sent to Shawshank State Penitentiary to serve a double life sentence after being falsely accused of murdering his wife and her lover. In his narrative, Red recounts every aspect of prison life, from extreme loneliness and boredom to brutal beatings and corruption. However, his main focus is Andy Dufresne and his impact on Shawshank State Penitentiary over the course of twenty-eight years.
During the course of Shawshank Redemption, the film evolves and builds upon itself. The plot twists in just the right way for the viewer to still be engaged. An example of this is when you think Andy (Tim Robbins) is about to be thrown off a roof for taking stab at the prison guards wife, only to have a request granted (a
... the prisoners direct involvement in the corruption, but a friend, lover, family member, et cetera, betters their life, and that wouldn’t happen had it not been for the corruption. The prisoners know the corruption in Shawshank well, and know how to use it to their advantage.
Spanning from 1947 through 1966, The Shawshank Redemption takes the "innocent man" in a prison theme and veers in a distinctive way. Rather than venturing down the typical crusade of freedom route Darabont went with a different approach. Focusing more on the personal expense of acclimating to prison life and how a number of prisoners console to normal prison life and lose the ability to withstand life on the other side of the walls.
Losing something that you have had for a long time can affect the way you act and feel. In the movie The Shawshank Redemption, Andy, experiences the death of his wife. The movie follows Andy Dufresne who is sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison for the murders of his wife and her lover and is sentenced to a tough prison. However, only Andy knows he didn’t commit the crimes. Andy deals with the death of freedom by helping the prison employees with their financial problems, expanding the library and planning an escape in prison.
Atomic Emission spectroscopy is a technique used in the determination and quantification of elements present with a chosen sample. The basic idea of this process it that first an atom is formed, and then it is excited then emitted. After the photon is emitted and energy is released knowing the energy released one can quantitatively and qualitatively determine the wavelength present and hence the concentration of the element. Inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry is one of the most powerful and popular techniques. It is also based on the spontaneous emission of photons after elements form atoms are further excited due to expose to high temperatures. it is ideal for liquid and gas samples which can be injected directly into the injection port of the machine but for solid, extractions or acid digestion is a definite requirement so as to ensure that the analyte is freely available within the prepared solutions. In the process the samples are converted to aerosol and directly travels through the line of the plasma, at the core the inductively coupled plasma is maintained at a temperature of about 10000K, which causes immediate vaporization of the aerosol. After atom formation, excitation and photon emission, the energy of the element can be deduced, as each element have a characterized wavelength and hence each photon has a specific energy level. The total number of photo detected is directly proportional to the concentration of the analysed element in the sample. [1]
...a journey to find Andy. This is the hope that triumphs the discouragement, which was previously set in place by Brooks’ suicide. Andy also was a driving force when Red was released. After his unrivaled escape from Shawshank, Andy restored Red’s, and all the inmates’ hope for a better life. But also it is Red that is affected by Andy’s light and enthusiasm for hope, which is the instrumental shift in the story‘s development. Although, a good portion of the movie occurs in the dark like lights out at the prison, which is a profoundly tenebrous time when the characters are left with only their own noetic conceptions. An example is that nighttime death of Tommy Williams, which alludes to the desire to stay away from the truth or the “light”. Hadley walks into the light after he commits the murder to show that he partially realizes the malfeasance he has just committed.
To get an insight into why Andy stole all of the Warden’s money and sent his account books to the newspaper, reinforcement theory is used. Andy has worked hard for Shawshank prison and basically everyone inside of it, so when he escaped prison he felt he was owed some sort of reward for his behaviour. The reward in this situation is monetary, as well as personal; Andy received $370,000 and he also got revenge on Hadley and the Warden for the negative behaviours they had bestowed toward him. In this case the roles were reversed and both the boss and the manager were punished for their undesired behaviours. The Warden could not accept his punishment and decided to quit life all together.
