Liberals and conservatives are today’s federalist and anti-federalist. Both groups have their own set of beliefs that go against each other. They both constantly disagree with each other on ideals like political, social, and economic views. To be liberal means to advocate for personal freedom, parliamentary legislatures, government assurances of civil liberties/personal rights, protection of civil liberties, and continued individual/social progress. Liberals are a part of the left-wing of the political spectrum, because they want more regulations and services like free universal healthcare to be offered by the government and be available to all citizens. There are different forms of media such as internet sites, newspapers, radio, and television shows. These forms of media are relatively readily available for most people which means information can spread quickly. The media has the power to connect people, spread ideas, and keep people up to date on current world affairs. It also has the power to spread lies and cause fear. Lies and fear can be spread through the media, because of a network or site being biased and wanting its visitors or viewers to see ideas their way. Liberals as well as conservatives, use their media outlets as a soapbox to spread their message to the public. They use their media outlets to slander whoever does not agree with their way of thinking and to gain as many followers as they can. The media uses sensationalism and infotainment to gain the attention of viewers, and get their message out. Sensationalism is the use of exciting or shocking stories, that sometime lack accuracy, to gain public interest or excite viewers. Infotainment is broadcast material that is used to entertain and inform viewers. Liberals and conservatives use these tactics as another way to fuel the fire to spread their ideas. These tactics become very prominent during times like elections.
