Mules human trafficking is the act of selling or trading humans often used as sex slaves for money. Sex slavery is commonly used all over the world without you even realizing it sometimes. Human trafficking is very lucrative and popular nowadays. The 1400’s marked the start of European slave trading in Africa with the Portuguese transporting people from Africa to Portugal and using them as slaves. There are many pros and cons about legalizing prostitution but the pros overcome the cons. In example, if prostitution was legalized, it would safe lots of lives from danger and sketchy circumstances. In example, when a prostitute goes on a job, he or she doesn't know what's going to happen exactly. If it was legalized and government regulated, they would have a clear approach on the job and know exactly what is going to happen and know that they will be safe. There have been many cases where prostitutes have been kidnapped or turned into slaves and most times don't even end up getting paid for the job they have done. The government Legalizing prostitution would be a horrible idea because crime rates and drug abuse would go up. “When a female or male is charged for prostitution the stigma is stuck with them for a lifetime”. With a charge of prostitution for female or male will not be able to find employment. Illegal prostitution causes crime activity because criminals look at prostitutes for rape, robbery and fraud. The statics about prostitution is that 80% of women want to get out of prostitution.40% of prostitutes are children forced to go into it when becoming a teenager, the cause of this was because many children were runways. Children and teenagers turn to prostitution because either they were poor, came form an abusive home, been raped themselves by family members.20% are male prostitutes. There was absolutely no research cited that relating to sexual addiction, the effects on the prostitutes’ emotional and physical wellbeing, or even the acknowledgment of the organized criminal element behind prostitution.

No one has to provide a prostitute with “rights like a minimum wage, freedom from discrimination, and a safe work environment” (Fuchs). With regulations in place after decriminalizing the profession, prostitutes can be better protected against STIs. This could be accomplished by requiring “sex workers to use condoms and get tested for sexually transmitted diseases” (Fuchs). They will have a greatly decreased chance of contracting disease if they turn down clearly infected clients, and make all clients, whether clean or not, wear condoms. If they were working outside of the law they would feel less incline to do this and would then be at great risk for contracting disease. Illegal prostitutes actually have motives for not using condoms since in cities like New York, “cops were actually using condoms found on women as evidence in criminal prostitution cases against them” (Fuchs). This practice provides the perfect stage for STIs to go wild and spread like fire, with HIV being in the forefront and becoming an even larger epidemic then it is. Giving them labor rights will give them the ability to unionize and fight for their rights together, transferring the power in the business to the workers instead of their bosses, like pimps and brothel owners. With regulations eliminating the pimps, one source of violence is removed from the business. Customers are the other major source of violence and, with legalization, prostitutes would be able to rely on law enforcement to protect them instead of detaining them. Studies have found that among prostitutes “82% had been assaulted and 68% had been raped while working” (Fuchs) and “they were 18 times more likely to be murdered than non-prostitutes their age and race” (Fuchs).
