Having lived in both western and third world country, I have the opportunity to be able to compare both worlds when it comes to health care. United States is one of the wealthiest countries in the world as such; his citizens should have right to some basic recourse, which health care is one of them. Health care should be a right for everyone living in united states; Privileges to health care are seen in people living in third world country, not so rich countries like my home country Nigeria. The role of government is to promote general welfare which includes Health care for all. Bill Clinton acknowledge in a speech that we as a nation are facing health care crisis, according to him in the year 2000, 20 present of our income will be on health care. 17 present of the U.S. population is uninsured. Most business cannot afford cost of health care for their employees, as a result increase the number of uninsured population. Ability to pay for health care shouldn’t be use as yard stick to measure the availability to health care system. The push for health care reform, affordable care act breaks the barrier by giving people more access to health system by making health care more affordable. Insurance company can no longer deny coverage base on preexisting health condition, no time limit set on insurance coverage, more screening and preventive screening are covered and finally under affordable care act, the privilege to enjoy low prescription drug costs are
