Lack of credibility in the media The media satifies the curosity of countless of humans and provides entertainment, knowledge, satisfaction, and even a distraction for humans. As centuries pass by, the widespread of information has become avalible through different sources such as through the interaction of people, the news media, the social media, and the internet. The abundance of sources have given oppotunities for people to be aware of their surroundings, but has also lead some people to question the reliability of the content. The new studies have shown that only 29% of Americans feel that the media is reliable (The CNN, 2009). Due to the massive number of people online having access to the internet and having the ability to report any fact, the truth can be hard to find. For example, the day after the paris attacks had occured, there was a rampage of inacurate tweets on twitter about the attack such as the tweet about the Effiel tower shuting down to honour the victims of the attack which was proven to be false (Kriston Capps, 2015). In addition, a single post on the internet can spread to milions of people even if the post is untrue. For example a tweet from Associated Press account indicated that there was an attack on the white house and president Obama was injured, which got retweeted over 6000 times and had turned to be a lie later on (Salzburg Academy on Media and Global change,n.d). An individual watching the news or reading an article about a current event is expected to sympathhize the victim and detest the villain, but sometimes the villiain on the news is not to be blamed for the tragedy. The falsely stated facts about who the villain is and why the event happened is mainly because of the biased on the news. For example, few days after the Orlando nightclub shooting, several people including the well-known figures such as Obama, speculated the attack as an act of terrorism due to the fact that the suspect was muslim, while the authorites were still investigating (BBC news, 2016). Although the attack was seen as an act of terrorism by the media for a long time, the evidence had proven otherwise, that the man’s motive was his sexuality and was not part of a terriost group (The Guardian, 2016).Therefore the media fails to provide accurate news on the world and is giving their perpectives and opinons on the stories rather than actual
