Amir, the main character in The Kite Runner, suffered heartbreak, many mistakes, and had regrets. Amir lived most of his life feeling guilty for what happened in his past. As a child, Amir and his servant, Hassan, were playmates. However, when something horrible happened to Hassan, Amir didn’t do anything to help him, for he feared of getting hurt too. The advice she would have given him would be to have courage and fight for what you think is right. Malala was a girl who wanted to receive an education. However, when the Taliban found out she was going to school, they raided the school bus she was on and ended up shooting her in the face. Even though something this awful happened to her, it didn’t keep her from fighting for girls’ education rights. Malala’s will to gain education for girls was so strong that she didn’t care what others thought or even if she got hurt. “Okay, shoot me, but first listen to me. What you are doing is wrong. I’m not against you personally. I just want every girl to go to school” (I am Malala). The courage and bravery that Malala had would have been very helpful when Amir needed it most. He worried more about what might happen to him than what was happening to Hassan. “I ran because I was a coward. I was afraid of Assef and what he would do to me. I was afraid of getting hurt. That’s what I told myself as I turned my back to the ally, to Hassan” (Hosseini). He knew that he should have helped Hassan, and he ended up regretting his choice he made.
