King Lear Edmund Analysis

In the play “King Lear” it describes how a king was at the top of his reign and his kingdom was so powerful, but soon it all went bad, his Kingdom along with King Lear himself came crashing down due to betrayal and lies. People usually think that lying is the easy way out to get out of trouble, but for King Lear it went bad for him. He lost his kingdom, land, and his family. Part of this was done by him but the one person that really wanted to get rid of him was Edmund.
From the beginning Edmund would show how he wants to be more then what he was born to do. Edmund was the illegitimate half brother of Edgar he and wanted the attention of Glouscter, which eventually lead to Edmund wanting more, Glouscter place in the kingdom.
Edmund is a type of person that will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. What Edmund did goes to show that he is indeed a deceiving character. He placed evidence on himself so it looks like Edgar is attempting to assassinate Glouscter when really it’s Edmund framing him. He sets all this up in order for Edgar to seem like the bad one so that Edmund will look like the good guy in Gloucester’s eyes.
Edmund gets in a lot of trouble to make Edgar think that he is still on his side still. One thing that you can learn through the William Shakespeare is that Edmund can’t be trusted and that he is turning on his family to get what he wants for himself. In other character’s eyes they see Edmund as a good guy and that he has done nothing wrong. The way the William Shakespeare Describes Edmund is a surprise to Glouscter and Edgar. He is said to be a good brother and a loyal son to Glouscter.

... manage to throw him out they started to fight over Edmund, he had started to mess around with both daughters, later Albany decided to say that Edmund and Goneril have been planning to kill him and that he is a traiter. Later someone in disguise shows up and challenges Edmund to a duel, so the fight on a one-on-one competition in a sword fight Edmund gets struck in the stomach by the guys sword. The guy is disguised turns out to be Edgar who ends up killing his brother Edmund.

While Edmund is on the ground dying Edgar tells Edmund that his father is dead and at that that goneril poisoned Regan and now she is dead. Edmund is please to find out that the two women are dead and that they died for his love and at that he confesses that he ordered for King Lear and for cordilia when he says that he manages to save king lears life but sadly finds out that cordilia died.
