At the age of fourteen, my life took a completely different course due to my mother's illness. My mother three years ago had some great news she announced that she was pregnant with my younger sister. In her first appointment, she was diagnosed with Kidney Failure and was going to be put in Dialysis. I never imagined how one simple diagnose would change my life dramatically. I was the oldest of three. My mother’s pregnancy was like no other, she spent most of her pregnancy in the hospital and I had to grow up and be in charge of my siblings and my household because my mother couldn’t be with us. I started taking control of the house chores my mother use to do. The week my baby sister was born, my schedule revolved completely around the both of them. Right after school my dad would pick us up from school and go directly to the hospital and spend the rest of the evening with her. When visiting hours were over my dad and my siblings went home and I spent the night with my mother in the hospital. My father would pick me up …show more content…

Another important skill that I have learned was knowing when I need help weather its from my parents or my school teachers. This life experience thought me that its okay to ask fro help sometimes because I am not perfect and sometimes in order for me to be successful both at school and home I may need some help every once in a while. My teachers and my family became an important resource for me because there were times when I couldn’t finish something from school or I wasn’t able to help my mother with a house chore. For example if I had to much homework one evening I spoke to my mother and explained that I have to much homework and I wouldn’t be able to help her as much and she understood or vice
