If customers can easily find what they are looking for and for low prices, this can negatively impact a business by driving down costs and thus reducing profits (Vuong, 2014). Buyer power has a neutral impact on a company if the company is already offering its products or services at the lowest prices compare to other companies. Finally buyer power has a positive impact on a business when, buyer power is low, and buyers are forced to purchase products or services set by a company or go without (Vuong, 2014). The following factors have been found in determining this rating: o “Buyers are more concentrated than sellers- High/Strong” (Vuong, 2014)– Kelly’s Salon has a high clientele volume, that is ever increasing, while the number of salons/ barbershops in the area are low (the closest competitor has yet to open, but when it does it will be located just 5 miles from Kelly’s Salon). o “Buyer switching costs are high- Low/Weak” (Vuong, 2014)– Kelly’s Salon has developed a Cost Leadership Business Strategy, thus providing a variety of services at lower prices than competitors.
