Ever feel like the world of technology is moving faster than the biggest software companies like Microsoft and Apple can’t keep up? Ever been in a meeting with a bunch of “techies” and not understand a word or acronym their off their lib’s? How about this- you are asked a question and with your reply they all look at you with dear in the headlight expression? Then in the back on the room and older gentleman politely explains to you and the group; With all due respect that system and software you described is no long sustainable and is not supported by any system. If you have ever experienced this, welcome to my current world.
Organizations that have had the foresight and encouragement to keep up with the technology for everyday business operation understand the value of research. The current world economy has put a strain on many organizations to have had to make sacrifices in their business organizations to stay competitive. These sacrifices include: staff, lowering employment budget, hardware and software upgrades and just doing without. These types of sacrifices will have a long term effects on any institute.
The organization that this paper is depicting has made these sacrifices and currently feeling the effects from no forethought of the long lasting upheavals. The adjustments that were made have made project completion dates shift the right that completion dates are constantly extended. Staff turnover is at the highest level even with the economy is a state of decay. There are two main hardware operating systems, identify as a standard system and a non-standard system. They are independent of each other. The question is asked repeatedly, “Why”? I best answer if have heard is, “Asked the government”.
