For decades things of the world has slowly changed from one thing to another. Back in the 1800’s people viewed and acted different than how they do today. Some things that have dramatically changed are the thoughts that Karl Marx and Jane Addams introduced to the world. Marx came up with the idea of equality and Addams helped women all over the world. Without the help of these great sociologists the world would be unfair for everyone today. People thought that it was very unfair that everyone got paid all the same, so when Marx came up with communism it was a big deal. When Marx decided to make the theory there would be no more unfair paying, all people would get paid for how much they worked and the certain type of job they had. Marx was known among people as the father of the social conflict theory which focuses on power. Marx also was a very well known author he wrote books which reflected his ideas of the economy and the money people make, two of his most famous books are “The Communist Manifesto” which critiques capitalism more broadly and “Das Capital” which the main idea was that exploitation of labor is the driving force of the capitalist economic system. Addams became the first American woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and is a founder of the social work profession. Many wealthy women became important long term donors to the house. Another thing Addams was well known for is co-founding the Hull-House, where new roles were developed for women such as social and educational opportunities. The Hull House was a center for research, empirical analysis, study, and debate, as well as a pragmatic center for living in and establishing good relations with the neighborhood. Residents of Hull-house conducted investigations on housing, midwifery, fatigue, tuberculosis, typhoid, garbage collection, cocaine, and truancy. Its facilities included a night school for adults, clubs for older children, a public kitchen and so on. Addams was born in 1860 so she was always around the fact of women not having rights, she had to fight for all women to have the equalities of men.
