"Are we the United States of America or the Democratic/Republican States of America. Or maybe the Black/White States of America. And even the Christian/Muslim States of America. We are not the United States until a man can walk out his front door, say hi to his gay neighbor, converse about the weather with his black friend, ride a commuter train sitting next to a Muslim, go to work for a female boss that gets paid the same as her male predecessors, then come home to a wife that he respects. That's the United States of America. There is still an American dream, and it's for a world where everyone is respected. Times have changed and we must push forward. We need younger people in our government. We need the minds of the people that understand children and understand what day-to-day life is for the average American. Juvenoia is impossible to avoid, at some point in your life, you will question the ideals of the younger generation. One big form of Juvenoia is the inability to accept the music of the new generation. Many members of the Gen X generation hate rap and hip-hop because it's not good, it's a bad influence, and it's not what you're used to. No one stops to think why we listen to that music, and if you do, you will find no answer. The reason we listen to music is because it makes us feel things. Our generation is interested in partying and staying young forever. The catchy beat and easy to memorize lyrics of rap and hip-hop capture that emotion and allow us to let it out. Another reason why people listen to music is because they can relate. With job availability being low and an increased number of "hoods" as they would be put in today's modern terminology, rap and hip-hop describe the environment of depressed areas and give insight to what it's
