On Friday January 15, 2016 to Saturday January 16, 2016, terrorists stormed the Splendid Hotel and nearby Cappuccino Café, in downtown Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, killing about 30 people from various countries, including 6 Canadians.
French and Burkina Faso security troops stormed the hotel shortly after, freeing over 120 hostages and killing 4 attackers, 2 of which was female.
During the attack , al-Qaeda claimed responsible, according to the SITE Intel Group.
Justin Trudeau issued a speech criticizing the attack that took the lives of six Canadians.

Whether the changes have been good or bad, the government has always been trying their best to solve problems such as takes high income, racism, and making sure that Canada is seen as the cleanest and economically friendly place that it is today. He was an intelligent, and strategic man, when dealing with many different types of crisis’s, such as the economic crisis. Pierre Elliot Trudeau is perhaps one of the mostly widely recognized Canadian Prime Ministers. His contributions to the growth and progress of Canada stands forever engraved in the minds of all Canadians. Yet, in spite of his many contributions, Canadians share contrasting opinions of Trudeau. Frum (2011) says of Trudeau that “as a political wrecker, he was truly world class.” On the other hand, the results of a poll commissioned by the Harper government in 2013-2014 ranked Trudeau number one on the list of most inspirational Canadians . In this essay, I will provide an analysis comprised of three perspectives to support the argument that Pierre Trudeau’s impact on Canada was overwhelmingly positive because his legacy transcended politics.
In Adelman’s Canadian Borders and Immigration Post 9/11 and Hugo’s Australia Immigration Policy: The Significance of the Events of September 11, both authors explore the effects of 9/11 on the Canadian immigration and refugee policy and on the Australian asylum seeker policy respectively. To arrive at their findings, both authors use media coverage, public opinion, and examination of post 9/11 impacts on the policies of both states. Additionally, Adelman uses new legislations that Canada adopted after the attacks while Hugo uses the justification of the Australian government for their change in policy. Attempting to reason states’ actual purpose for introducing controversial immigration policies is problematic. Adelman and Hugo’s method of analysis and hurried conclusions show that the dilemma that arises in explaining immigration trends, including policies.
On September 11, 2001, our country was hit with enormous devastation, just after eight o’clock a.m. the first of the twin towers was struck by a suicide pilot, the second was struck slightly later. The towers fell just after ten o’clock a.m., devastating the entire country, and ruining the lives of many. A plane also hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and another in rural Pennsylvania causing just as much grief. The U.S. is still in mourning, but standing tall, more Americans showed their American pride in the following months than ever before. In the months to come the only thing that was on the minds of millions was: Should we go to war? War is necessary for the survival of our country. Going to war with Iraq is a fight against terrorism. Many people believed that going to war with Iraq is unjust. Some believe that there are other ways in looking at the situation.

Stephen Harper, the leader of the Canadian conservative party, promised that if re-elected he will protect the national security of Canada by criminalizing trips to certain regions. The main goal of his promise is to prohibit travelling to regions where Islamic groups enroll and train people. According to Harper, the threat is real and only with this legislation, Canadian security could be ensured. Harper also promised that some exceptions would be made for people that prove that they are travelling to “terrorist hotspot” for legitimate purposes i.e. journalists or aid workers. The leaders of the other parties had different reactions to the promise made by Harper. For instance, Justin Trudeau is convinced that Harper talks about security in order to distract people from the conservative’s failure in the Canadian democracy. While Tom Mulcair thinks that Stephen Harper decided to announce his legislation at the same time as Mike Duffy’s trial in order to turn aside the scandal in which conservatives are involved.

Four airplanes were hijacked, two were crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City, the third crashed into the Pentagon in D.C. and the fourth got stopped by a passenger. It was the first terrorist attack on the U.S. soil. Thousands of lives were lost that day. This attach was the most devastating act of belligerence on U.S territory since the Civil War (Terrorism, 2011). This even had an enormous influence on America and its history. It led to numerous short and long term effects. On September 20, 2001, former president George W. Bush announced publicly that he declares “War on Terror”. After this announcement, our country has altered. To determine if an effect was positive or negative, determines on the view point of the person. Some of those effects include; USA Patriot Act, creation of TSA, the War, and issues soldiers have after combat and health problems of Ground Zero.
