Undeniably, religions provide a guide for their followers for living the ideal life. Because of this, many religions establish similar expectations when it comes to maintaining such a lifestyle. One of these expectations is to closely follow a statement of rules or laws that are used to guide followers within a religion. In Judaism, this comes in the form of the Ten Commandments which Moses received from Yahweh on the top of Mount Sinai. Similarly, in Christianity, Christians also use the Ten Commandments in attempt to idealize themselves in the eyes of Jesus. These commandments, which state rules such as do not commit adultery, do not steal, and to keep the Sabbath day holy, are guidelines for which followers of the two aforementioned religions …show more content…

For starters, both religions have what is regarded as a coming of age ceremony for boys. In Judaism, this is called a Bar Mitzvah, and in Hinduism this is called a Sacred Thread Ceremony. Additionally, both religions have one God that is regarded higher than any other. In Hinduism, this God is Brahma, and in Judaism it is Yahweh. Furthermore, each religion has a very sacred and important place in which they place value on. For Jews, this is the Promised Land in which they were granted as part of the covenant with Yahweh in exchange for obedience of his commandments. For Hindus, this is the Ganges River, where cremated ashes of the deceased are thrown into the sacred river. Continuing on, both religions allow for distinct moments and rituals for which a follower can further concentrate on their faith. For Jews, this comes in the form of prayer, and for Hindus, this is achieved through their constant practice of yoga and meditation. Not to mention, both religions have spiritual teachers who help deepen the faith of individuals. For Hindus, this is called a guru, while Judaism has rabbis. In both religions, these teachers will preach, read from scripture, and worship right alongside of other practicers of the religion in order to increase their
