“Players” is written by Joyce Sweeney, and it talks about St. Philip’s varsity basketball, which they are predicted to go all city, Corey, a senior, makes team captain, and his friends Theo, Noah, and Antawn are all starters. The team gets a new transferred player named Noah, who is a great shooter and player center, wants to be a starter. When Luke faints at the beginning of a game, and Theo quits the team, the basketball team needs to deal with problems to make all city. This book would have been a good story, if it was turned into a movie.
The movie can be easily be made into the movie because it has good character development. The characters are likeable to many high school students. It also had a good plot development, because it gets intense in the middle of the story. The conflict gets really intense every chapter I read. …show more content…

Corey and Luke’s casting must be about 6 feet and 5 inches and must be really athletic. Theo’s casting must be 6 feet and 10 inches and be really muscular. Antawn’s casting must be less than 6 feet and 3 inches and must be fast and a good shooter. Noah’s casting must have freckles and an evil face in some scenes, and must be about 6 feet and 6 inches. Casting for Corey’s sister Renee must be about 12 to 16 years old and must be a nice person and she has at least a small semblance to Corey. Lane Sullivan, the new coach of the basketball team, had never even touched a basketball before he started coaching. Sullivan had never coached anything at all before he started coaching the Joes basketball team. In order to gain knowledge about the sport, he got a book about it. He started coaching in 1927, but before the 1928 basketball season, Joes High School didn’t even have a gym. Instead, they’d practice outside on a dirt court, and two times a week they’d take a bus to the nearest gym, which was ten miles away. In order to play home games, the boys had to play in the local dance hall. The “court” was nowhere near regulation size, and the ceiling was so short that the boys couldn’t shoot an arched shot. The people who attended these basketball games had no place to sit and watch the game, the all stood around the edges of the court and on the small stage. Joes High School finally got their own gym around Christmas time because the people of Joes donated their time and material in order to make it happen.
