The worst President: John Tyler The United States of America has had both best and worst presidents. Among the presidents, John Tyler is considered as one of the worst president U.S. has had. He was the first Vice-President given the opportunity of the President’s position without the election because of misfortune of President. He served as the tenth president from 1841 – 1845. He did not have the ability to work as a president and to handle all the responsibilities that came with the position. The main reason that people opposed him is because he supported slavery. Though people said he was a sensational man, he had a narrow mind and old-time mentality. Supporting a Jefferson Republic, he started his political career. He was a U.S. Senator and he supported Andrew Jackson opposing the federalist. After that he joined with the Whig party to support his successor William Henry Harrison. He gained a lot of supporters for his campaign with William Henry Harrison. They won together. But after he got the position of United States, he changed his policies and overlooked his past values and promises. In the article named “A controversial President who established presidential succession” the author has stated “But soon after assuming his role in the White House, Tyler so offended his own party members that he was outcast from the Whig Party while still in office.” The people who supported him in the campaign were very unimpressed and left him after he changed his mind set. He got a lot of criticism after that. He was like a traitor to the county as he returned to his morals that supported Andrew Jackson, leaving the ideology of Whig Party.
