In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in measuring satisfaction among employees in organization. Work environment is complex mainly due to its structure which involves two or more parties. It is important for employers and organization to know if their employees are satisfied with their job as it may directly influence of their performance and in turn, the performance of the organization. Satisfaction could mean different things to different individuals. Many people may agree that satisfaction is determined when their expectations are met and may feel disappointed when they are not. While it is essential to spell out the meaning of satisfaction, it is equally pertinent to identify the components that form satisfaction towards job. This requires ones’ understanding of the concept of job satisfaction, a construct which is linked to the discussion on an individual’s satisfaction towards job. Thus, the objectives of this paper are 1) to define job satisfaction, 2) to discuss the scope of job satisfaction, 3) to discuss factors of job satisfaction and 4) to provide insight of job satisfaction from Islamic perspectives. JOB SATISFACTION DEFINED To first understand what job satisfaction is, it is proper to address it as one of the work-related attitude. People tend to have a definite thought and feeling toward their job whether it is about the coworkers, salary, supervisors, or even cafeteria. These feelings and thought is what referred as work-related attitude. The attitude of the people have towards their job or organization have profound effect on how the individual perform the work and quality of life the individual have while at work. Whoever manipulates the trust of the servant should heed the woes that he will undergo by Allah the Almighty. The Prophet said in Holy Hadith: "Allah said, 'I will be an opponent to three types of people on the Day of Resurrection One who makes a covenant in My Name, but proves treacherous; One who sells a free person and eats his price; and One who employs a laborer and takes full work from him but does not pay him for his labor.” (Reported by Al-Bukhari, The book of Sahih Albukhari, page no. 2270). The Doomsday will arrive when the people indulge excessively in corruption. Hence, when corruption is high, trust slowly diminishes in the society. This was mentioned by the Prophet (saw) who said: “When trust is lost, then await the Hour (Doomsday).”(Reported by Al-Bukhari, The book of Sahih Albukhari, page no.59).
