“Love Cannot Save You From Your Own Fate” Jim Morrison was a man of many traits, most famously known for being the lead vocalist of the popular late-sixties rock band The Doors. Morrison, along with being a singer, was a songwriter, philosopher, and poet. Him and his bandmates exploded onto the music scene; their concerts and performances were a new experience for people of the time. The book No One Here Gets Out Alive, written by Jerry Hopkins, depicts Morrison’s musical career and short, but wild, life. Morrison’s words and music stuck with people, he inspired- and continues to inspire- others about his spiritual beliefs and philosophies in life. Starting with his early life, he was born under the name James Douglas Morrison in Melbourne, Florida, on December 8, 1943. Morrison grew up as an army brat. His father, George Stephen Morrison, was a naval aviator and his mother, Clara Clarke Morrison, was a homemaker. Music served as an escape for Josh, because, as Hunt vividly describes, being a 15 year old, in the Great Depression was not an easy task. Josh, and his best friend Howie would produce beautiful music, temporarily losing themselves in the exquisite music they created. Josh and Howie were talented past their age, and they were given a role to play for the school assembly. Though their rehearsals were beneficial, they both dreaded the thought of returning home. Led Zeppelin the record was released by the Atlantic Records in 1969. Shortly after the record was released it was number eight and stayed in the top twenty for six weeks. When the Led Zeppelin II was released, it was Atlantic Records’ fastest selling album at 100,000 copies a week. They broke their own record in 1975 when “Physical Graffiti” that sold 500 copies an hour. All of their albums have gone platinum.

This serves as a testament to the importance and power of music, as well as its influence in society. Toni Morrison was born Chloe Anthony Wofford on February 18,1931 in Lorain, Ohio to George and Ramah Willis Wofford. She was the second of four children. Her parents influenced her writing because of their contrasting views. Her father had a very pessimistic view of hope for his people; however, her mother had a more positive belief that a person, with effort, could rise above African-Americans’ current surroundings (Carmean 1-2). Her parents also influenced her because they were “gifted storytellers who taught their children the value of family history and the vitality of language”(Carmean 2).
