According to psychologist world, attachment theory states that a strong emotional and physical attachment to at least one primary caregiver is critical to personal development. For Jesse Pinkman, a character in the television series Breaking Bad, a strong emotional and physical attachment has yet to happen and it is evident that he has not fully developed as an adult. While watching the show, I noticed that I was developing a strong fascination for Jesse. My primary feelings toward Jesse were exceptionally vague. In the first three episodes it seemed that Jesse had no family, no friends, and no drive to become anything more than a money hungry dusty drug dealer. In episode five we witness Jesse at a job interview and it is made clear that he genuinely wants to find a nice job. Jesse even appeared to be the most clean in this scene than we have seen him throughout the first season. This is Jesse attempt to try and better himself. Even though being a drug dealer seems to be the only occupation that Jesse is qualified to do, it is extremely noticeable that Jesse does not belong in the drug world. In almost every encounter Jesse has with someone else involved in the drug world, it seems like he is extremely intimidated and uncomfortable. In episode six when Jesse visits Tuco, he is given a taste of how dangerous the drug world can actually be. The attack against Jesse causes him to be extremely anxious when he is in Tuco’s presence. Jesse even questions, in episode seven, why they are still doing business with Tuco since he is a madman. It is also apparent that Jesse has a strong love for money and that he is willing to put his life at risk just to acquire it. In the first three episodes it seemed that Jesse had no family, no friends, and no drive to become anything more than a money hungry dusty drug dealer. After finishing season one of Breaking Bad, it is evident that Jesse wants to better himself, but he is stuck in this lifestyle because of his lack of qualifications. Jesse has yet to fully develop as an adult and I believe the reason is because he has yet to have a strong emotional and physical attachment to someone. I believe once Jesse develops a strong attachment to someone else, we will then begin to see him
