The horror film Jennifer’s Body(2009) attempts to undermine the power of the classic horror movie characteristic of the women being terrorized. Setting up Jennifer as a powerful figure who feeds off men sexually to make herself stronger. She is represented in many ways as the male construct and or view of the women. Highlighting her beauty, sexuality and monstrous aspects. Contrasting Jennifer is Needy, who is the run of the mill highschool girl. Who is intelligent, conservative and responsible. In which represents the actual woman. I will be contrasting how Jennifer is portrayed as the man’s view of the woman, who is consequently portrayed in the aspects of the monstrous feminine, to the reality of the woman who is portrayed by Needy.

The fact that women can create life through the abject notion of birth and create polluting objects such as menstrual blood. Which is looked at as shocking or terrifying in being suppressed by our male dominated society. In addition to the already permeable and abject body the female is looked at as more so abject than the male given the role of the female in the life cycle. In horror films this concept is exaggerated in many ways to reflect men's societal outlook on women. Specifically in Jennifer’s Body Jennifer is portrayed as the villain that is monstrous in nature as well as being female. Jennifer is strongly directed as a monstrous feminine. After turning into a succubus she gains monstrous abilities and powers. On the surface she is obviously portrayed as a succubus/devil which fills the role of the monstrous feminine on it’s own. But there is much more to be taken into account in the sense of the monstrous feminine than what is on the surface. In order for her to be strong she must feed off the blood of men. In order to do this she lures her prey using her sexualitly. At multiple points in the film it is almost as if the men don’t even have a choice as to not attempting to engage in sexual activity.
