I have always known I wanted to be a nurse ever since I was a little kid; one person I have to thank for my love in nursing is Jennifer Sanger. She has been my role model ever since I was a little girl and Mrs. Sanger has always taught me how to make it successfully through the nursing program and how to be an excellent nurse. When I think of an extraordinary nurse, I think of her and could not asked for a better person to look up too.
I had the privilege interview Jennifer Sanger; who is age forty and is a female. She attended University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh for Communications and French. Sanger acquainted me by telling me her thoughts on what characteristics of an excellent nurse. When you are being taken care of you want to have someone who is compassionate for their job. The nurse is doing this job for the pleasure of serving others not herself. Team player is important because you want everyone to work together and help each other out. A nurse should be smart and have common sense; when she said smart Mrs. Sanger did not mean have the high GPA but knows what they are doing and how to do the procedure correctly. Time management is another characteristic a nurse should have because some prescription needs to be dispensed at a certain time. A nurse must be a good listener and also looking at the patience body language to make sure that part of them is not telling you something else. Mrs. Sanger also mentioned that being dedicated to what your doing is important because as you have to work over time, weekends, holidays and miss events that are important to you. Sanger gave me five recommendations for success in the professional program. First, do not give up because you are going to want to but you need to think of what you’re working for. She also told me to stay force on your dreams and to also stay positive. Take on day at a time because you can only control the present. The last word of advice from Mrs. Sanger was to have some fun because after college that is when the real world starts.
I agree with everything Mrs. Sanger has told me that makes a nurse great. The two that makes me the most important to have as a nurse is compassion and good listener. You want your patient to know that you are always there for their needs not for your own needs and when they need someone to talk to you are willing to listen. It is important to stay focus on what you are working for even when you are stressed out and do not give up on your
