We are about to go to a trip in the history to experience something that has changed and influenced the world’s clothing style. When you look at people around you, you are going to find the majority of people wearing jeans. In fact, most of the people in America wear jeans. It has surely become an icon of American culture.
Now let’s go back in time and see how, why, and when was jeans invented. Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis are known for inventing jeans in 1873 (Wikipedia contributors). As we all know, Levi Strauss is famous for his clothing business called “Levi Jeans”. Levi jeans’ jeans are made from a fabric called denim. He thought of the idea of inventing strong pants for the gold miners in California during the gold rush. He wanted to create jeans for the labor class when he started. It all started in Europe when Levi heard about a fabric called dungaree when he saw Italian navy wear that fabric. He found out that this fabric came from India. He liked the fact that this fabric was washed and dried quickly. Also, this fabric makes the cloth strong and durable.
When Levi came back to United States, he decided to create his pants company. He met his friend Jacob Davis who told Levi about his idea of using copper rivets to reinforce the strands of material in the pants to hold it together. Levi loved the idea and soon both of them got a patent for jeans. Their business boomed as they witnessed heavy sale of jeans with its growing popularity.
Furthermore, Mr. Calvin Klein is responsible for the increasing popularity of jeans in the mid twentieth century. Mr. Klein wanted to change the view of jeans which was rugged cowboy look to more of an everyday item for people to wear. He created the image of jeans as comfortable everyday c...

Today, students in schools and colleges prefer to wear ripped jeans. This style has suddenly appeared cool to people. It started with people wearing their old jeans with holes in them with the punk era of teenagers in 80s. As the number of people who wore ripped jeans grew, the demand for it also grew.
In conclusion, jeans clothing industry is worth billions of dollars and had become the popular clothing style throughout the world. Jeans have been in the United States for a long time and it looks like they will remain in the trend for a very long time.
