James cook was born on 27th October 1728, in Yorkshire. He was the second one born out of his eight siblings. His father was called James Cook. His father was a farm worker in Yorkshire. After they moved he become a full time bailiff. His mother was called Grace Pace Cook. They moved to Airey Home Farm at Great Ayton in North Yorkshire. James cook was married and had six children and a wife called Elizabeth Batts. They were married on December the 21st in the year 1762. She was born on 1762 and passed away on 1779. James cook then passed away on 14th February 1779, aged 50. He got murdered, by getting stabbed. He was fighting with the Hawaiians throughout his third journey which was in the pacific in the year …show more content…

James Cook was in charge of the HMS resolution. Another ship went with Cook this time. It is was Captain Charles Clerke. He was the one who was in charge of James Cook ship which was called HMS Discovery. James Cook aim this time he had to find a Northwest Passage. This passage is meant to move around the American Landmass. In the year 1778 James cook was the first ever European to make a verbal connection with the Hawaiian people.
James Cook made a conscious effort to search North America’s west coast. After exploring the west coast James cook wanted to then search the Coast northward. Before James Cook could explore they would have to wait out the bad weather. On the date of 29th March to the date of 26th April, 1778. James Cook and the HMS Discovery stayed in the town of Yuquot, this was on Vancouver Island. This was in Canada.
After leaving the Island, James Cook plotted a map of the coast. James Cook then went onto plotting a map of the west coastline of North America.
James Cook went to Hawaii on the date of 1779. James Cook and his crew stayed here for a month. After this, James cook went to go and recommence his searching of the Pacific in the north. This aim was given to him by the Royal Society. The aim was to determine the longitude, he done this by witnessing the “Transit of Venus.” This type of expedition was a military type expedition, but it was educational. It is educational because James cook had to retrieve scientific information about the longitude.
James Cook second voyage was to find out the “hypothetical of Terra Australis.” This was another scientific voyage. This aim was given to him by the royal society. This again was run like a military operation, when doing this like a military expedition his crew member will know what to do and when to do it. This expedition was educational because Cook had to decide whether there was excessive southern islands.
