There are many ways in which I could say that Isaiah and Jeremiah are the same, for example they both were prophets of the Lord, and when God called them to preach the Word of God they did this. They preached the true word of the Lord. But this paper is not only written to talk about the similarities but also the differences between to two as well. Isaiah was a man according to the Bible, was living during the reigns of Uzziah also known as Azariah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah. All three of these men were ruling over the kingdom of Judah, but at different times. Uzziah was a ruler over the land of Judah for about 52 years. Hilkiah was a Jewish priest, from Anathoth. When he was first called he resisted it because he said he did not know how to speak. Meaning that he did not think that he could deliver the Word of God like he would have been called to. Jeremiah had many trials in his life. Many called him the weeping prophet because of the Book of Lamentations. In the beginnings of Jeremiahs ministry he was told that he must warn the people of Jerusalem’s fall. Israel was being an unfaithful people at this time. They were disobeying the commands of God. God was very displeased with his people at this time. They did not obey the laws that God had put before them. The people of Israel began to worship Baal, they even made an alter for Baal to sacrifice their children. For these reasons and many more God took away his blessings from his people. They had broken the covenant of God. God led Jeremiah to tell the people of Israel, that because of their unbelief there was going to be great famine, and a foreign land was going to take them captive, bringing them into a foreign …show more content…

They brought many people into the faith. But both had many trials. One maybe more than the other. Jeremiah lived in a time threat was very persecuted. Many people were being killed. Jeremiah lived in a time of grave suffering. These trials strengthened his faith but it made many others falter in their own. The kings during this time where a very wicked bunch. They ruled unjustly. They knew of the word of God but they chose not to believe any of it. So instead of listening to the prophet Jeremiah, and repenting, they decided to defy God. God told Jeremiah to warn them that if they continue in this wickedness that they will be taken into captivity. The wicked kings of course did not listen to a word that Jeremiah was telling them. In fact these prophesies made them hate him even more. Now because Jeremiah went to the kings, his own relatives started to plot against him to kill him. God warned him of these plots and sent Jeremiah into hiding until it was ok to return. Also God told Jeremiah that this was only going to be the beginning of all the persecutions. Later in the chapters of Jeremiah we see that he is once again under the persecution of priests, and once again Jeremiah goes into hiding. There are many more examples of the persecutions that Jeremiah faced, and some even left him for dead. Jeremiah lived in a much different time than Jeremiah
