Isaac Davis, a courageous and cunning man that was a hero to Hawaii and impacted it in a very positive way. Isaac Davis did many things and was many things including being a seaman, a trusted advisor to Kamehameha, the high chief of O’ahu, and saving a chief. Davis started out as a seaman aboard the Fair American and sailed from China to America trading all kinds of fur. The Fair American sailed across the Pacific ocean with another great boat called Eleanora. The captain of Eleanora was Simon Metcalfe and his son Thomas Metcalfe was the captain of the Fair American. On their voyage they had docked at Maui where the Eleanora’s skiffs were stolen. Simon Metcalfe was furious and punished Hawaiians by killing more than 100 Hawaiians and humiliating the chief by whipping him. The chief sought revenge and attacked the Fair American killing everyone onboard except for Davis because of his courageous fighting. Simon Metcalfe knowing that his son had died on the ship fled and didn’t come back. Davis was nurtured back to health by a nurse on the island and met Kamehameha …show more content…

Since Davis knew more about the foreigners than Kamehameha, he taught him how to deal with all the trouble they brought. Kamehameha did not know how to deal with all the trouble the foreigners brought and Davis prepared him for everything they would bring. Davis solved many ordeals with the foreigners and Hawaiians. Davis also helped Kamehameha win lots of battles by teaching him different strategies they used in western combat. Davis was in return taught many things about the Hawaiian culture and abided by the rules everyday he was on Hawaii. Davis became a well known man in Hawaii and influenced Kamehameha in many positive ways. After many years on the Hawaii Kamehameha appointed Davis to be the high chief of O’ahu. Davis accepted this position with great honor and worked hard to govern the island of
