Brave New World is no longer relevant. Who wouldn't agree that the ideas in the book aren't relevant with the text and modern society. In the book everyone lived in this perfect world. A “Utopia” as you will. But of course not everything was oh so perfect. The director wanted and expected everyone to be the way he sees things and have no problems. That doesn't really work out so good because of Bernard. Bernard is the outcast of the story. He isn't like all of the others, he actually doesn't believe in what was taught to him at an early age. Bernard is embarrassed about everything that is going on an is uncomfortable.
Perfection isn't always something you should strive for. Just because something seems perfect for someone else doesn't mean you should do it because your definition of perfection is what actually matters. The way Bernard is, is perfectly fine in our world but sadly not in

Our society tries to be the best we can without being perfect because we don't believe that perfection is the key is succes. The only thing our people want is to be happy and not change the way that we are an live a successful life where they know they made it. We the people try our best to be very accepting and have rights for the things that we want. We have women's rights , LGBT, and many more . That's something that Brave New World wouldn't have.
In our society it would be weird if we didn't have rights and have positivity that we have today. We are just so used to being happy with how things are , I don't think none of us couldn't think about living in a world like in the book. It would be so unhappy with people thinking that there's actually a perfect utopia for them but there isn't . Yourself should make your world great so you can be happy unlike the book where Bernard isn't happy how everything is going in his life and feels uncomfortable with everything
Utopia seems like a wonderful idea where everything is perfect and no one suffers. Three stories address this topic and show how even the best ideas have their downside. The Giver tells of a society where everything is the same and no one has to worry about making a wrong decision. Fahrenheit 451 tells of a society that bans book in the interest of preventing unhappiness. The society in Logan's Run is full of pleasure but only for 30 years. In practice though, these utopias present each of the protagonists with a problem where they question how perfect their perfect worlds really is.
Brave New World is an unsettling, loveless and even sinister place. This is because Huxley endows his "ideal" society with features calculated to alienate his audience. Typically, reading Brave New World elicits the very same disturbing feelings in the reader which the society it depicts has notionally vanquished - not a sense of joyful anticipation. Huxley's novel presents a startling view of the future which on the surface appears almost comical. His intent, however, is not humor. Huxley's message is dark and depressing. His idea that in centuries to come, a one-world government will rise to power, stripping people's freedom, is not a new idea. What makes Huxley's interpretation different is the fact that his fictional society not only lives in a totalitarian government, but takes an embracive approach like mindless robots. For example, Soma, not nuclear bombs, is the weapon of choice for the World Controllers in Brave New World. The world leaders have realized that fear and intimidation have only limited power; these tactics simply build up resentment in the minds of the oppressed. Subconscious persuasion and mind-altering drugs, on the other hand, appear to have no side effects.

The novel Brave New World written by Aldous Huxley has been reviewed over time by many different people. Neil Postman is a man who has read Huxley’s novel and came to conclusions himself about the comparison between the novel, and the modern day problems we have in today’s society. Postman has made many relevant assertions as to how our modern society is similar to what Huxley had written about in his novel. The three main points I agree on with Postman is that people will begin to love their oppression; people would have no reason to fear books; and that the truth will be drowned by irrelevance.
Bernard Marx was alienated in the Brave New World because of his general appearance. As an Alpha Plus, Bernard was unusually short and ugly. Suggested by Fanny, Bernard's condition resulted from an error when he was still in a bottle, the workers "thought he was a Gamma and put alcohol into his blood surrogate." Bernard did not fit in the structured order of the Brave New World and was therefore shunned by others. The error resulted in Bernard developing outside the barriers of his caste level. His ugliness and short stature led Bernard to become a perpetual outsider, alienated by society. As an outsider, Bernard was cynical of the order and structure of the Brave New World. He eschewed Electric Golf, and other social amusements in favor of loneliness and solidarity activities, such as, thinking. Bernard attempted to find a way "to be happy in some other way," in his own way, not the established way.
Bernard the protagonist of "Brave New World" written by Aldous Huxley is a character alienated from society because the other Alphas do not accept him due to the rumors people made up that claimed alcohol was in his blood surrogate. However as Edward Said wrote, "exile can become a 'potent, even enriching' experience." Although Bernard was alienated from society he was enriched with knowledge and understanding of the other classes such as the Epsilons. He took a trip to the Reservation and learned how the savages lived. With alienation comes understanding and higher thinking. Bernard was not only alienated but enriched because he was not like the others in the sense that he knew the truth & stuck to his morals.

What appeared in the beginning as a perfect utopian society was actually an imperfect dystopian environment.
A “utopia is that which is in contradiction with reality,” said the famous French novelist Albert Camus in his collection of essays, Between Hell and Reason. History shows us that seemingly exemplary ideals in practice have led to the collapse of societies. Just examine the two most prominent attempts at a utopia: Hitler’s attempt to socialize all of Europe and create the “perfect” Aryan race coupled with Karl Marx’s beliefs to instate communism into society. The final result was the destruction of their perspective visionary worlds. There was one major facet that prevented these two from creating their paradigms: utopias take away individual freedom and identity and therefore society cannot exist. Aldous Huxley’s science fiction novel Brave New World examines the large disconnect between the future and present day societies, showing how several aspects of this dystopian world lead to the downfall of the individual identity, most prominently exemplified by the death of John Savage.
Throughout the novel Brave New World the author Aldous Huxley shows the readers a dystopian society where Ford is worshiped as a God, people only live sixty years, where there is a drug exists without the unwanted side effects, and movies where you can feel what is happening. This is what the author thinks the future of the world would be. However, despite the author's attempt to predict the future the novel and the real world contrast because the concepts in the novel like love and marriage and life and death drastically contrast with how they are dealt with today.
Bernard was born as an alpha, the highest caste. Unfortunately, he was born with multiple birth defects. Bernard was short and slightly disfigured, making him stick out compared to everyone else's genetic perfection. Because of this, Bernard was made fun of a lot by other people in the community, making him feel lonely, even though he was born to the highest caste.
...that he would never be good enough. Bernard lacked the confidence to try Mustapha Mond’s approach to fitting in but could use Helmholtz’s approach of standing out. Bernard ended up leaving to Iceland, an island, where people who don’t fit in are sent. John, no matter how hard he tried, would never fit in to either society. His Shakespearian mindset, upbringing in a savage reservation, and his mother and father set him apart from the civilized world. His fairer complexion and his more civilized thoughts set him apart from the Indians in the reservation. John couldn’t handle the social pressure and, in the end, killed himself. The way all three men handled the situation was different but they were all brilliant people that suffered from social pressures and loneliness.
Citizens would make a concentrated effort to push aside their immoral ways to achieve happiness for eternity. For example, “He let out the amazing truth. For a very long period before the time of Our Ford, and even for some generations afterwards, erotic play between children had been regarded as abnormal (there was a roar of laughter)”(Huxley 24). The vagueness of the people in Brave New World is astonishing. They truly took a step back, when religion, science, and art were censored.
In Brave New World, Huxley introduces multiple characters and problems to explore both internal and external conflicts throughout the story. One character we see in depth is Bernard. An alpha in society, Bernard struggles with inner conflict that separates him from the rest of his peers. Unlike others he sees the world he lives in as flawed. He questions everything and as a result of this, feels isolated and different. He struggles with his inner feelings as others start to judge him. He has the option to go against the part of him that says to act like every other Alpha, or to go with the part of him that wants to stand up for what he believes to be morally right.
The central conflict is Bernard vs. Society, and it is external. This is because the conflict is appearing outside of the protagonist, rather than an internal conflict, which is when there is opposition between the protagonist and his or herself. The conflict in Brave New World's case moves the story forwards as the author shows the reader how stereotypes can influence social ranking in many different forms. For example, most Alpha males such as Bernard would be tall, strong, smart, and commanding. Bernard, however, is vertically challenged, meek, of higher intelligence than most, and lacks authority. There were quite a few changes made from Aldous Huxley’s, Brave New World to turn it into a “made for TV” movie. The first major change most people noticed was Bernard Marx’s attitude. In the book he was very shy and timid toward the opposite sex, he was also very cynical about their utopian lifestyle. In the movie Bernard was a regular Casanova. He had no shyness towards anyone. A second major deviation the movie made form the book was when Bernard exposed the existing director of Hatcheries and Conditioning, Bernard himself was moved up to this position. In the book the author doesn’t even mention who takes over the position. The biggest change between the two was Lenina, Bernard’s girlfriend becomes pregnant and has the baby. The screenwriters must have made this up because the author doesn’t even mention it. The differences between the book and the movie both helped it and hurt it.
