The American revolution was the starting point in where America really became independent from, being shackled to Great Britain, but this war had its own irony and contradictions. With each war there are always people fighting for something that they believe in, whether they are right or wrong. As long as the people believe in what they are fighting for then they will always believe that they are fighting for the greater good. In this war the Americans believe in what they were fighting for and the reasons for them to be free from their present and future from being controlled by another country hundreds of miles away. This war contradicted the reason as to why they were fighting, at the end of the fight it seemed to go back to the way it was before, but instead of, having a king ruling over them from hundreds of miles away they have different kinds of people taking control of the new America. Some of the things that happened after the revolutionary war private property concept was getting entrenched, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and also how the upper class mobilized all classes of people to protect. Many of the things that they fought to be free from was exactly what they started to do in some scale in America. For example "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness", or "all men are created equal" these quote applied to the people in America, but was directed towards a few people in the country. The quotes did not apply to the women in America or to the slaves that were either held captive or freed. Even after freeing themselves from the grip of Great Britain the Americans still held captive slaves in their hands till the nation started another war over their own believe. In the end the Americans contradicted in the things that they have fought for, only to do it to their own
When the war began, it was being fought by the Americans to address their grievances toward the British. This seemed like a justifiable cause for a war, however not all of the citizens shared the same sense of unity about the political issues the war was being fought over. The US was quite upset about the continuing impressment of American sailors into the British Navy and the seizures of American merchant trading vessels by the British. Another reason the United States wished to go to war with Britain was because of their dealings with the Indians in the West. The British were not only trading with the Indians, but they were also giving them weapons and encouraging them to attack American settlements. Along with these reasons, the Americans, now becoming hungry for land, dreamed of capturing British Canada and possibly Florida for the union. Also, the Americans still contained a certain degree of resentment from the Revolutionary War, which they were eager to take out on the British. Even though these were the causes the nation was supposedly fighting for, the entire nation lacked a major driving force to gain restitution for them. The nation was not really united for the cause, as backcountry farmers didn't care about what was happening to coastal shipping businesses, as coastal shipping businesses didn't care about what was happening to the backcountry farmers. Everyone was only concerned with their own problems, and not concerned with the problems facing the nation regarding the situations its citizens were enduring.

The American Revolution, or otherwise known as the American War of Independence, was taken place between the years of 1775-1783. The war was fought between Great Britain and the 13 British North American colonies. The American Revolution caused a series of traumatic events. The American colonists were justified in waging war because the British seized the rights of the colonists, the American colonists did not have a say in Parliament, the Boston Massacre, and incoherent decisions involving taxes by the British King.
“The Revolution was the most radical and far reaching event in American history.” This is the premise of Gordon S. Wood’s book The Radicalism of the American Revolution. Within these pages Wood attempts to prove that the American Revolution was radical because it fundamentally changed the social and political structures of colonial America, structures that had always been fused together. Accordingly, he asserts that the separation of these institutions forms the basis of his argument for radicalism.
In contrast, the Americans were largely farmers and constantly desired to acquire more land. They didn’t understand why they couldn’t use and move onto the land if it was used by people less superior to themselves. Americans didn’t think of the American Revolution as a civil war, but as a war to gain freedom. All the classes in America were united against the British except the loyalists. This was mainly because they were all fighting for the same cause: freedom, equality, and no taxation without representation.
After years of constraint from Great Britain, America had finally had enough. No longer were Americans going to stand in silence and take what was thrown at them. One of the most impactful wars in American history occurred and for their victory, there was a huge celebration. For white males all over, freedom and equality had finally been granted but for everyone else like women and African Americans, practically no changes occurred. The American Revolution was a long lasting war between the Americans and the British. Both sides had many obstacles to get through, but in the end the British were defeated. But there is a question. Did the Americans win or did the British lose? During this time, the American’s goal was to gain their independence, while the British’s goal was to stop the revolution all together, the end of it is well known, the Americans gained their independence. Now, to answer the question, most people would say, the Americans won and the British lost, but this is not the case. Revolutions are usually described as “radical” events. A “radical” event is defined as one that greatly changes the political, cultural, social, and/or economic nature of a society. I believe that the American Revolution was a radical event that dramatically changed our society. There were many impacts to the changes such as slavery, primogeniture, the Articles of Confederation, republican motherhood, and government. This was the time in life, that we as America gained our independence from Britain. The American Revolution is what shaped our world to become what it is today.
The American Revolution marked the divorce of the British Empire and its one of the most valued colonies. America is deemed to be the safe haven for all those who are escaping persecution in their country for religious rights and personal freedom. The fundamentals and foundation of America is that all are equal and all have the right for a better life. Where else in the world do you have the luxury of the pursuit of happiness and prosperity? However, because America is so diverse and sensitive to the plight of people wanting to obtain what America stands for, unfortunately we place ourselves in impossible predicaments around the world and the Revolutionary War is no different.
In conclusion, the American Revolution was very revolutionary. It was a huge milestone in American history. The war not only gave America their own independence from the most powerful country in the world, it gave the American government the basis of how it runs today and brought about many social and political changes. Although many historians see the war as a change of power from one greedy power to another, Americans wouldn’t have a democracy and citizens wouldn’t have the rights they have.
