With compelling main characters and a remarkable soundtrack, Into the Woods is a definite must see and an enchanting film. A compelling plot, and the mystical atmosphere of the woods create a spellbinding film, that you have to see. With actors like Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, this movie really sets the bar high for action-packed fantasy films. The story starts out with a baker and his wife wishing they could have a child, Cinderella wishing she could go to the ball, Jack wishing his cow would produce some milk. The baker and his wife meet a witch so they can have their wish. But in order to have a child they have to bring 4 things to the witch. As the baker and his wife search for the items to bring back to the witch, they meet Cinderella, Jack, Red riding hood and Rapunzel. Finally, when the baker and his wife collect all the items, their wish comes true, they have a child. It seems like all the characters wishes have happened as well, Jack still has his cow, Cinderella got to go to the ball and married the prince, Rapunzel had also found a prince, everything seemed at peace. But they should have been more careful about what they wished for, because it all goes wrong. Speaking of characters the director did an amazing job casting parts. Playing the role of the witch is Meryl Streep, a multiple award winning actress. She does an amazing job of portraying the witch as a surprising character, and brings turmoil into the plot, which is just what the movie needed. One other character that I believed was casted excellently was Emily Blunt playing the baker's wife. Her mellow tone of voice suits her character and her songs well. At times the wood was dark, gray and grim, to really set the mood of the scene. For example, when Red Riding hood is straying off the path and you see the Wolf silently watching her, Red knows she’s in a different part of the woods because of how dark and creepy it is, and how the atmosphere of the woods has changed. But at times the woods seem magical and hopeful. For example, at the end of the movie when the characters are all beaten down, but hopeful, the woods seem light, hopeful and magical compared to the scenes before. The woods had a mystical and hopeful atmosphere that perfectly captures what Into the Woods is centered
