Interview With Marilyn

In this exercise that I am required to do, I chose to write about my friend, Marilyn. I consider her my personal “discovery” and a continuing surprise. She caused me to acquire many pleasant memories, feelings of joy and appreciation for life.
Marilyn and I met at my job interview. I was looking for work in my area -taking care of someone at home, when someone recommended her as possible employer. I was warned, that she was not an easy person to get along with, and that she was quite stingy with money. I was attracted to the fact that the work was supposed to be on the weekends, and went to meet her as soon as I could. She needed a person to take care of her best friend and a neighbor, Melba Sue. She works at the Rout 66 Museum once a week during warmer seasons of the year, does some accounting work for a library club, she designs for church fundraising bazaar and makes postcards for other people for special occasions like birthday, Christmas, sickness, or loss of a loved one.
I admire this person for her ability to speak the truth without fear of offending the person. She has shared her clothes that don’t fit anymore with me, but when I asked for a specific particle, she didn’t mind telling me that she is not a store. We had laughed together, drank tea and shared meals. Marylin is also very tactful and warm. After Melba Sue died, and never seeing before relatives began to show up to claim some property, Marylin showed incredible grace and patience, giving them their rights, never showing any signs of irritation.
I loved our time together, when I was working behind the wall of the duplex house taking care of her very sick friend. Marylin would come over for tea, and sometimes I would go over to her house. Even after her friend passed, we remained friends. We both find reasons to meet and always enjoy our meetings.
