Many questions rise up from interpreting the Bible. These questions involve very deep thinking, and involve lots of different perspectives that even the smartest man could not come to the conclusion of the correct answer. The Bible is a amazing book because it leaves the reader to interpret the Bible through their own perspectives, and leads the audience to really question all of the complex stories of the Bible. Many other questions arise like how does the Bible compare and contrast to the ideals of science. These thoughts are all up to the audience to put the insanely complex puzzle together, and maybe someday put all these difficult pieces together. Neither has Bono held the hand of the devil. Bono is just using metaphors for his music and his verse above is not to be taken literally. This is how the Bible is should be mostly interpreted, not literally but figuratively. I can somewhat compare myself to Carolyn as we both cannot really wrap our heads around the complex stories of God in a figurative way but it is much easier to determine what the text is explaining from the literal perspective. You cannot read the Bible like a textbook, there is so much more meaning of what the text is explaining. I do believe that there also ways to interpret the Bible literally like the bible verse from Luke 6:31, “ Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.” That verse I feel should be taken from a literal standpoint because it is not complex and it is understandable. I also agree with the standpoints of Carolyn that state that being “alive” has a whole other analogical meaning to God being “alive”. Also good and powerful have different meanings from me vs. God. I am happy I have read Carolyn’s standpoints on the Bible because it will really allow me to go deeper into the Bible than I expected, and really find a meaning for the text. The Bible is filled with so many stories and with these stories become many complex and disconcert
