International Asian students
Asia is the largest and most populated continent on earth, according to the latest survey home to about 4.4 billion people. Given the many countries and cities in Asia, it has a very thick and diverse culture. Having the opportunity to interact with international students from Asia gave a chance to gain perspective and understanding of fellow students in Asia and learn more about the continent through a native’s eye.
One of the students I got the pleasure to meet and get to know was Cheung Liko Huan. I asked if his name meant anything and he explained that, his parents had a hard time getting a child after marriage so they named him Cheung which meant good luck, Liko so that he was always protected by Buddha and …show more content…

She also did not want to have kids from seeing how her family tried hard to make ends meet. If she ever told her family any of that, they would be very disappointed in her; her parents would regret having encouraged her to further her studies and the family would completely alienate her. To avoid all this she wanted to get through college then leave home.
However, since the school and community at large is very accepting to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender population, she has been very free and open about her sexual orientation. She has even been able to find her first love and they have been dating for three months. For this, she is exceptionally happy; she finally feels free, to be herself without fear of judgement or discriminated against.
She is also grateful for the education system. There is a wide exposure in relation to her course, equipped laboratories, fieldwork and exceptionally qualified lectures who can help achieve her goals and dreams. There are also so many students in the same field, which is good as she can share ideas, perspectives, and opinions with so many people who will understand her, broaden, and challenge her intellectually.
