In the 2011 novel Divergent by Veronica Roth, tells the story of a teenage girl, Beatrice Prior, who lives in the city of Chicago where they have factions. The faction decide what you will do for the rest of your life. She takes a test to know what faction she belongs to but her results are Divergent, which is dangerous for Jeanine Matthews to know because she thinks Divergents can overrule her system. Tris (Beatrice) along the way has some internal and some external conflicts. An internal conflict that she goes through would be when she finds out she is divergent. Tris doesn’t know what faction to choose and it confused since she can’t tell anybody. “...she turns her head and whispers in my ear, “‘ I love you. No matter what’” (Roth, p.41).
