Have you ever heard of refugees fleeing their native country because of war? Well if you haven’t let me tell you about it. Up to one hundred thousand refugees flee from their country to another country for a better life and to escape war. But the countries accepting the refugees have big responsibilities. The novel “Inside Out and Back Again” by Thanhha Lai talks about a girl name Ha living in Vietnam with her family, and her life is being changed from the Vietnam War. Ha and her family suffered a lot from the Vietnam War, The war caused Ha’s father to leave their home, caused Ha’s best friend to flee, and caused everything in Vietnam to be more expensive. This relates to modern refugees because both fled from war in their native country to a country that will provide things for them. A quote from the article called Refugee teenagers said, “They take with them only what they can carry, only what they have time to pack.” This quote shows people are being affected by war and they don’t have enough time to take everything with them. There is a limit of what refugees can carry. Another quote mentioned, “Sometimes all they have left is their dreams, their hopes, their will to survive.” So you know some people have nothing left but their dreams so they rely on the camp or country they’re going to. The place refugees are going to have to provide and support them with resources. The evidence I used supports my reason and overall claim because not many refugees have their own resources like food, water, clothes, shelter, etc. Without these things, refugees will die so it is the countries responsibility to provide these resources for them.
