The innocent permissiveness of today can be responsible for inadequate education in the future. A permissive parent has few demands of their children and rarely disciplines them. Parents only realize that they were permissive after their children are having behavior problems at school. Lack of discipline or boundaries at home affect them in school. For parents who feel unqualified to tutor the child a specific subject, hiring an instructor is an option.
The media is often considered to be biased. The reason for this is because they do not act neutral on the things that they report on. They usually give their point of view and tend to warp the information so it’s easily digestible by the average person. This type of “nugget feeding,” can influence the judgment of some one who has no idea what is going on. The media tends to sensationalize the news by making it seem dramatic, and compelling. This hooks the viewer, and keeps them tuned in. The purpose of this is for ratings, and most importantly money. The media has become less professional, and their morality has gone down hill. The editors/gatekeepers decide what information is sent out for the public to see, and hear. This is another way that the news is shaped for our viewing pleasure.
In permissive parenting, the guardians are more of the child’s friends and not a disciplinary figure. Permissive parenting embraces avoiding confrontation and being lenient as the key to success. Imagine a trip to the grocery store. You are walking down the cereal isle and you approach a child screaming because he wants his favorite marshmallow filled cereal, rather than a healthier choice. Fulfilling the child’s want in order to appease the child, rather than being assertive and making a healthier choice is a perfect example. The dissimilarity between parenting techniques would be that a B minus would bring praise in permissive household. This is similar to how I was raised. As a child, my siblings and I were expected to achieve good grades but that did not translate into an A plus on every exam. Our academic achievements were to be considered excellent and praiseworthy even if we brought home a B on a test. In hindsight, if we were to earn a C in a class we could expect some sort of restriction and forced remedial training in that area. There are some people who just want to be able to get the cold hard facts. For most people it is hard to find a News Network is not all left or right sided. It's critical for the new sources to relay only the facts and not their opinions so that viewers are able to form their own opinions without the pushing of one side. This style of parenting is best described as the child having more control over the parent. There are a lot of parents today that seem to have no control of their child actions and even words. This in which can make the parents question what are they doing wrong when it comes to raising their child. Although these parents are very loving of their children they do not have many rules that their child should abide by (Cherry, K. 2017, para.1). Not setting ground rules gives the child the freedom to do whatever they want and know that they will not receive a harsh, if any punishment at all. Also, parents who are permissive tend to want to be their child’s best friend. The child in this parent in child relationship tends to have more control than the parent. If there are not any rules in place to be followed the child will eventually resort to negative behaviors, and may even be insure because of the low discipline from their parents (Cherry, K. 2017, para. 9). Authoritarian parents, show very little acceptance, have very high expectations of their children and are extremely controlling. These parents are strict, and use a prohibitive and punishment method. According to a research done by Kimberly Kopko from Cornell University, it “reveals that adolescents of authoritarian parents learn that following parental rules and adherence to strict discipline is valued over independent behavior. As a result, adolescents may become rebellious or dependent” (2). The adolescents who come to be rebellious may showcase hostile behaviors, while those who are passive are likely to stay relying on their parents (2).
The style of parenting with which children are raised can profoundly affect their social development, as well as their abilities to deal with life situations as adults.
