DIABETES TYPE 2: RISKS AND SIDE-EFFECTS OF THE TREATMENTS
Some diabetes medication includes common side effects such as nausea or an upset stomach.
Potential side effects of common diabetes drugs
• Sulfonylureas: low blood sugar, upset stomach, skin rash or itching, weight gain
• Biguanides/Metformin: sickness with alcohol, kidney complications, upset stomach, tiredness or dizziness, metal taste
• Alpha-glucosidase inhibitors: gas, bloating and diarrhoea
• Thiazolidinediones: weight gain, risk of liver disease, anaemia risk, swelling of legs or ankles
• Meglitinides: weight gain, low blood sugar

Doctor: One treatment for established osteoporosis is hormone therapy. Hormone therapy is useful in preventing or alleviating the increased rate of bone loss that leads to osteoporosis. Hormone therapy uses female hormones, estrogen and progesterone, to treat common symptoms of menopause. After your period stops, your hormone levels fall, causing uncomfortable symptoms like hot flashes and vaginal dryness, and sometimes conditions like osteoporosis. Hormone Replacement Therapy replaces hormones your body no longer makes.
