Have you ever had those mornings when you couldn’t get out of bed? It has happened to all of us. However, the one way to counter that sleep attack from your body is to drink energy drinks. Energy drinks contain caffeine, and a lot of it. Most Energy drinks contain somewhere from 80 to 90 mg. of caffeine (per 250 mL). Energy drinks aren’t just filled with caffeine, they contain many other things as well. Whether it’s Ginseng, a herb believed to increase energy. Or maybe it’s Guarana, a plant that contains 4-5% caffeine, compared to arabica coffee beans, which contain 2-3%. With all of these unique ingredients inside energy drinks, will people be able to tell if they are drinking energy drinks, or something else? In fact, placebos are commonly used to trick people into thinking they are consuming energy. When an experiment was done testing the difference of physical performance after drinking a fake energy drink, the results were interesting. They told 15 boy contestants and 15 girl contestants to do push ups in 2 minutes. They recorded the number of push ups the contestants do before drinking the fake energy drink, and after. 87% of the girls were able to increase the amount of push ups they did, while 67% of boys were able to.
In conclusion, the placebo effect is one of the most effective treatments in medicine. The placebo could treat 35 medical conditions, and is proved to work. The opioids inside of your brain work hard to relieve the pain you are feeling inside of your body. Also, 50% of the doctors use it, so you know it’s a legitimate treatment. Many tests have also proved for the placebo effect to work on patients. When it comes to caffeinated drinks, the difference is nearly impossible to find between energy drinks and fake energy
