What is breast cancer? Breast cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the body. Did you know women are more likely to get breast cancer than men? I think people do not understand how bad this disease is. My family has a history of breast cancer, and all three have been women. Facts about breast cancer, how it develops, and treatments are what I will be talking about. (6)

Every year there are more than 190,000 people diagnosed with breast cancer. Women over sixty are more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer other than women under sixty. Also having a breast cancer history increases your chances of getting breast cancer. Since women in my family have had breast cancer in the past, I have a higher chance of getting breast cancer in the future. My grandmother, great-grandmother and second cousin have all had breast cancer. (5)

Lobular carcinoma is the type of breast cancer beginning in the milk producing gland. There is invasive and noninvasive breast cancer. Invasive cancer spreads from the breast ducts or glands. Noninvasive cancer does not spread from the original tissue. (5)
TREATMENTS
While there are many types pf breast cancer, there are also many different therapies for breast cancer. Such as, hormonal therapy, radiation therapy and lots more. There are surgeries for breast cancer. Those are lumpectomy, or mastectomy. All in all, there are many different things you can do to treat breast cancer. (5)
Not only are there medical procedures for breast cancer, there are treatments and medications. It depends on what stage of cancer you may have. One of the medications a doctor would prescribe is Tamoxifen. Tamoxifen is a hormonal medication. This medication helps you not get cancer again. Chemotherapy (Chemo) is the most common treatment for breast cancer. Chemo therapy is often recommended before surgery and causes hair loss. (7)
