Influential Experience in Life- Personal Narrative
I’m sitting here on a cold Wednesday morning on a cold Wednesday
morning bored out of my mind having just been given my SATs result (a
five I think that’s rubbish). All I can hear is the names of people in
my class and a number it sort of reminds me of bingo that I used to go
to with my nana since, well, forever. As I’m telling you this I feel
as though I should tell you about the amazingly boring things that
have happened to me between my first breath and now fifteen years
later.
On the 5th of October 1990 at 7 pm Janet and Colin Brook gave birth to
a gorgeous baby girl a baby girl they named her Robyn. They already
had one daughter Gemma that was a year old. I stayed in hospital for a
few days then I was sent home to my new family. I stayed there for
about two weeks until my house was ready for us to go live in. I was
christened at four months old at Rothwell parish church.
When I was four years old my mum and dad decided to have another baby.
Nine long months later my (completely evil) little sister was born she
had gorgeous baby blue eyes (she still has them now). That year (1994)
on bonfire night my mum forced my dad to take me and my sister Gemma
down to the bonfire in Rothwell Park to watch the fireworks. After it
had finished me and Gemma couldn’t climb over this ditchy bank thing.
We were stuck! It was so funny. A couple of months later Alice was
christened. I don’t remember a lot but I do remember Alice hanging in
the doorway in her baby bouncer I don’t know why but that image has
stuck in my mind I think that image will stay in my mind forever. Or
at least I hope it will a picture of my baby sister when she was a
baby because she’ll always be a baby to me.
From the time my brother was born, a career of nursing was always in mind. I remember waking up in the car and mom telling me that the baby was coming. Moments later, we were informed that my brothers stomach was shrinking inside of her and that they had to do an emergency c-section. Thirty two weeks into my
My daughter’s name is Peyton Lynn Hetherington. Peyton had a normal birth. Labor was about ten hours long, and given naturally. A natural birth is a group of techniques aimed at reducing pain and medical intervention and making childbirth as rewarding as possible (Harris, Sara). I am proud that my "team" could make use of the natural childbirth breathing and relaxation techniques. My partner and myself were amazed at our angel Peyton. My partner and I are adapting well thus far with the new addition to our family. We are taking turns with Peyton and my partner has been very helpful.
Although we started to live with our new family June 4, 2004, we officially got adopted on February 18, 2005. This family was very ice and made us feel like we were at home. We were sad that we could not stay with the other family we did enjoy this family too. The first summer we lived with them we went to Disney world ,which was a lot of fun. I remember being super scared on a ride that was like the power tower but it was dark, and being 6 I was scared out of my mind.
She was given her due date, July 17. Shortly after, she would feel the thump, thump of mine and my sisters ' kicks against her stomach, you could even see our hand and foot-prints extending out from her stomach. On the 22 of may, my mother was awoken in horror, surrounded in a puddle of blood. She was rushed to the hospital where she was told she had hemorrhaged, one of her children went into respiratory distress, and she had placental abruption which caused the hemorrhaging. An emergency C-section was needed immediately if she wanted my sister and me to live. They wheeled her in, and began the procedure. At 7:40 in the morning, my sister was taken from my mothers uterus, not breathing or eating; I followed two minutes later, perfectly healthy. A breathing tube was placed into my sister, pumping her small fragile lungs with essential oxygen, and later a feeding tube was placed. Because of our prematurity, we were extremely small. My sister, who my mother decided on naming Taylor, weighed four pounds two ounces, I was three pounds twelve ounces. We had to be incubated until was at a healthy weight for an infant, and until Taylor reached the breathing and feeding stage. We shared an incubator, I would scoot towards her. Doctors were not sure whether I did this to make sure she was okay, to protect her, to give her warmth, or because we were in the same position in the womb. They released us from the hospital a few weeks later
I was called into admin with three managers sitting around. My department just passed the district walk-through a week before, the department was doing great, so I was curious to see what this meeting was about. My boss and bosses boss where sitting down, a lady from human resources was phone conferencing in. Defining moments in my life have helped shape my mindset. More so, it has allowed me to venture in a way to live my life with pure happiness and fulfillment. My defining moment was being let go of my job. I was completely devastated and felt like I was kicked sideways.
went from there. My dad actually cheated on my mom and had a baby. This was pretty
Battling a miscarriage a couple years prior, my mother was feeling mixed emotions. Around this time, I was a senior in high school so the news was neutral for me being that I was the only child for eighteen years. I did not know if I should rejoice or complain because I was leaving for college soon. My brother was born about two weeks before my high school graduation, and I must say that it was a very intense and complicated birth being that my mother was nearly forty giving birth to her second child.
Many pivotal moments appear in a human beings life to change the way that individual thinks. All human experiences shape the way a person becomes. The death of my 20 year old second cousin changed my perspective on life. It was not because he was close to me or had a huge impact on my life, but because such a young life ended so suddenly. I got to experience how that impacted and even changed certain people. I came to the realization that all those stories on the news actually happen to real life people. These stories seem so unimaginable, but from that point on, I realized that anything can happen to anyone in the simple blink of an eye. I learned that although every human envisions certain things to occur in their lifetime, many aspects cannot
I went through several stages of labor and its difficulty, after which I was transferred to ICU where I
Although I am only sixteen years old and in the eleventh grade of high school, many things have influenced me and caused me to be the person that I am today. I hope that these things will continue to help me be a better person and influence me as my life continues. Some of the things that have influenced me have been church, my family, my friends, and school.
At the time, my wife Jeanne was pregnant with our soon-to-be daughter Tahlyn. We had waited eight long months for her to arrive, and finally her due date was getting closer and closer. The excitement grew stronger as the days went by.
