Recommended: Stages of human development infancy

Stage one begins when the baby is a newborn to 18 months. During this stage an infants basic needs must to be met by their caregiver in order for them to learn trust. They need to trust that their caregiver is going to feed them and care for them regularly. Consistency from their caregiver is important during this stage in order for them to move on to the next development stage with confidence. This stage is very significant because this is when the baby is first learning to trust the world in situations that are beyond their control. Their needs to be a balance in this stage where they also learn to mistrust so that they are aware that there are aspects in this world that they should not trust.
