The information we gathered in our research, could prove to be quite useful to our community partner Jackie and the Asian-American Student Union (AASU). It seems that we have received mixed views on Asian American leadership and inclusivity on campus. There are many diverse things we can do with this research to help Asian Americans on campus feel more included and welcomed. Through our research, we determined that many students on campus were not even aware of the fact that we have an Asian American Student Union. We can take the information we learned through this process and use it to improve awareness around campus. Raising awareness has proved to be helpful in many other circumstances, where the general public is either misinformed or just unaware that a problem truly exists. When asked about inclusive leadership, many of the individuals interviewed, said that inclusive leadership should mean that everyone has a voice and that we all deserved to be heard. An additional technique to get people involved in the conversation, would be to interview more students or even community members. A questionnaire could be sent out to all the students on campus to grasp a better understanding on how all the students feel about Asian Americans and inclusive leadership. The data collected from polling the majority of students on campus, could prove to be very useful to Jackie and the AASU. A questionnaire targeted towards the majority of the students on campus would at least bring attention to the current issues AASU are facing. As a part of the legislative committee of the Student Government Association, I have the opportunity to review and develop legislative that can improve the university for students and the administration alike. In addition, being a part of the social media team has also allowed me to observe situations and contemplate solutions from the university's perspective. Finally, being a member of the Black Student Association reinforces my belief of the importance of dialogue and striving for more diversity and equality in various institutions. Culture Centers in Higher Education: Perspectives on Identity, Theory, and Practice is a powerful and enlightening book by Lori D. Patton. Patton is a higher education scholar who focuses on issues of race theories, African American experiences on college campuses, student development theories, campus environments, inclusion, and multicultural resources centers at higher education institutions. She has a variety of publications and was one of the first doctoral students to complete a dissertation that focused exclusively on Black culture centers entitled, “From Protest to Progress: An Examination of the Relevance, Relationships and Roles of Black Culture Centers.” In Campus Culture Centers in Higher Education Patton collaborates with many higher education scholars and faculty members to discuss various types of racial and ethnic culture centers in higher education, their overall effectiveness, relevance, and implications for improvement in relation to student retention and success. Diversity, inclusion and social justice have become prevalent issues on all college campuses, and this piece of literature gives a basic introduction for individuals unfamiliar with cultural resource centers. This book successfully highlights contributions of culture centers and suggestions for how centers can be reevaluated and structured more efficiently. For many faculty, administrators, and student affairs professionals unfamiliar with the missions and goals of culture centers, Patton’s text provides a concrete introduction and outline for the functionality of these resources and also offers recommendations and improvements for administrators managing multicultural centers.

Affirmative action is needed to create diversity in America. Affirmative action allows people of different races and backgrounds to interact in the workplace and universities. During 1996, Neil Rudenstine, president of Harvard University, explained Harvard's commitment to diversity by using John Stuart Mill, who emphasized the value of people being in contact with people who are different from them (5). The demand for a growing middle class represents the biggest new growth for opportunity in many countries around the world. The diversity for the shifts in the market emerges within the growing middle class, represents a growth and opportunity for many companies around the world. Opportunities for balance of life and work has expectations and impacts populations migrating regardless of education, age or culture ( Morrison, 2000) Ideas of deregulation and technology can disrupt business, competition and consumption. The Asian American community in the contemporary period face a lot of race relation issues which all interconnect within each other. Asian Americans face the basis of “Model Minority” that purportedly whitens Asians leading to the belief that there are no issues such as racism and poverty within the Asian American community. With that, they face the issue that there is no racial discrimination against Asian Americans due to the racial barrier being contextualized within a “black or white” framework. Another problem they face is mainstream America’s lack of awareness to the diversity of the Asian population, which causes a lot of misperceptions and misdirected racial hatred towards certain ethnicities within the Asian race. This causes the Pan-Asian community to not be supportive, unwilling to support each other, in order to avoid racism by avoiding being associated with that ethnicity just because they look alike. This causes the Asian American community and the ethnic groups within to be invisible to the American community as they lack organization and unification to have their voices heard.

As someone who has lived overseas for many years, I understand the importance of a diverse and inclusive community. My time living in Beijing and Taipei exposed me to a wide variety of people from all around world, each with their own unique stories and culture. My experiences overseas made me realize the power of a strong community and how diversity is absolutely vital for a flourishing academic environment.
