In In Defense of a Liberal Education, Fareed Zakaria’s thesis was that a liberal education is good

but it still needs work to make it perfect, or closer to. Zakaria, throughout the book, tries to

explain how important a liberal education can be, but also how much work it needs. Zakaria uses

his experience going to America to go to Yale to help explain how the variety of courses helped

him figure out what he wanted to do in life. He wrote that in India it was generally thought that a

person would go for an education that would prepare them for a job that produces a lot of money.

Those educations that people mainly went into were mathematics, sciences, or humanities (pg.

23-24). It is easy to tell, especially by the title of the book,
