Improving Online Courses

As online education becomes more popular there are a number of ways it can be improved. There are a number of pros associated with earning a college degree online. As a student I have spent a good share of my time taking courses on campus and online. As the cost of living increases I see online courses more favorable. Campus courses have been around since the beginning of education. Online courses did not become available until the internet became popular. As technology has advanced there are a number of things that allow online courses to compete with campus courses. As technology has advanced I see inconsistency in what a student is to expect when taking an online course. This paper will explore the increasing popularity of online higher education and ideas for improving it.

As being at a lecture at a specific time is not a requirement students have the opportunity to plan their learning time around the rest of their day which is the opposite of traditional learning. Students can make a schedule to work on activities related to courses during the time of day when they have peak energy, greater ability to concentrate, and less distractions competing with their attention. This can range from early morning or late nights. Material for the courses are always accessible online so there is no requirement to make frequent trips to the library. These advantages allow students to better balance their work and family commitments.
