How often do you talk to yourself? A famous proverb says that when people talk to themselves, they are usually intelligent people. What does self-talk mean? Well, it means that you think loudly to yourself. There are many people who often talk to themselves because they usually think that it is the best way to remember what they have to do. Speaking as a student, students always talk with themselves; although when you see them, you feel like they have a discussion or conversation with somebody instead of themselves because they are talking so loudly. What I meant by correcting our mistakes is that when we talk to ourselves loudly, we will hear our mistake not just for the studying. However, it might also help us to correct our agenda of the day while we are speaking to ourselves. For example, when I was in my country, I took French. In addition, I had to talk to myself and say whatever the words are in French to see if I pronounced them well just, like what the teacher pronounced in the class, or the opposite. A famous wise saying says that Self-talk helps you to punish or reward yourself, so you will be a good person. For example, I always talk to myself every night to see what I did wrong in the day and try to fix it. I might say or do something that I did not pay attention to, and it might have hurt someone’s feeling. So, while I am talking to myself, I say, “wait a second why did I say or why did I do that?” That is not respectful to say or act like this. For instance, one time the teacher was asking me one question and all of a sudden, I said, “I do not understand your question” instead of “I do not understand the question.” It was disrespectful to the teacher.
