It’s true what everyone talks about safety – you are the key to your safety, when you do it safely you do it the right way and the best gift you can give to your family is to always stay safe. We have been taught by our parents and teachers to be cautious while doing a number of things. That’s very essential in our daily lives, because one needs to be extra cautious to prevent unavoidable accidents. Regretfully, with no legislation in India to protect the person providing first aid, the biggest hurdle is fear of liability. As is evident, victims of road accidents are left to their destiny as the first aid worker dare not touch the victim. That is always have so kind of first aid on hand. Me personally I make my own. First thing I put in it is band aids and some it types of cream like Neosporin and Vaseline. Then I like to pack water proof matches. Then I put alcohol whips in my bag in case I get a cut I can clean it. Finally, I add a knife and a small hand saw. I pack the knife for protection. I bring the saw for cutting fire wood or if I am stranded I can cut trees to make shelter. Also, I forgot to menschen I bring a heat blanket and a fire starter for back up. Well that’s all I put in

Everyday risks present themselves in various workplaces through a variety of situations. Risk managers have been set in place to establish rules and guidelines by which employees are to follow. Any risk manager would agree that programs are set into place to reduce exposure risks, and provide a safe working environment. The elimination of undesirable outcomes in an emergency setting is critical and should not be taken lightly. Medical facility holds the key to important protocols and needs to work closely with risk management in order to instill cooperation.
The Health and Safety First Aid legislations is also an important legislation for my sports club because there will always be a first aid kit around and most possible a qualified first aider around the workplace. In a kit there should be bandages, gauze, scissors, medical tape, burn cream, butterfly stitches, and some type of fever reducer/pain reliever. If the first aid kit is more advanced, there are more items that cover more scenarios. As previously mentioned, there might be an Epipen and Narcan as well as items to make a tourniquet or even a tracheotomy kit. Cuts and scrapes require thorough cleaning with an antiseptic solution and then a clean bandage or dressing to prevent dirt and debris from entering the wound. If there is an incident involving a burn, you must first assess the situation and determine the extent of the burn. A simple red area is a first-degree burn and only requires burn cream if the patient is uncomfortable. First degree burns are most common as a sunburn. A second degree burns blister and turns red. Do not pop the blister but cover the area to protect it and see a medical professional if it is very uncomfortable. Beyond a second degree burn, the victim should remain calm and seek medical treatment. If the skin is black or missing have the victim lie still and do not touch the affected area. Wait for help to arrive to treat the area. If you suspect a victim is having a heart attack or a stroke you should try to get them to lie still and call 911 if they are alert. If they become unconscious you should check their breathing and pulse. If they are not breathing or do not have a pulse you should begin CPR and call 911
Public safety covers a wide variety of people and organizations, but carries one common theme and that is, the public’s safety. This course has broadened my knowledge on the many roles that make the public safety sector go around and the role the public plays in it as well. My thoughts before the course were close minded and to the point. I quickly realized that policing is not as cut and dry as I once portrayed it to be. Society is always changing and adapting, and it is the job of the those in public safety to adapt and change with it. The mindset that I grew up with, in rural Saskatchewan, was the police are good people and you will only need to deal with them if you break the law or see someone break the law.
