A paraprofessional job can at times be stressful and complicating. The job duties vary from day to day activities, as I can relate to it, because I am a paraprofessional at a school. As a result of this high energy burnout rate from daily activities that needs to be smoothly completed in a timely manner. It is essential to have a structured system of order. Therefore, a paraprofessional will always pair up with another paraprofessional, and will be directed by a special education teacher. As a paraprofessional, my tasks vary greatly in difficulty, but it is very important to get the harder tasks done before the simpler ones. As a result, a professional need to have at least five skills when working as a paraprofessional. When the jobs gets so stressing that the surrounding environment has nothing beneficial to say except complaints, it is important to be patient with it. As a paraprofessional you need to understand that everyone has a busy schedule and especially when a teacher has to deal with twenty or so student each hour. Give an adequate deadline for students and the difference will be astonishing. Another very important skill to possess is strong verbal communication, as this would be make task easier than sending maybe five to six emails to request something. When a paraprofessional speaks directly to a students or a teacher, the tasks will get done faster than sending emails multiple times. The third skill needed is to have is an excellent team work. What determines a student’s success is how well the teachers, special education teachers and paraprofessional do all their part. When the teacher has all the material ready for a paraprofessional and the para assigns those materials to the students a correct manner, the students’ likely hood of progressing increases. With the addition of globalization, the world has become a tech freak in communications via email and phones. Therefore as a paraprofessional, you will require three critically essential tasks as a good communicator. First, it is important to make phone calls to parents whenever the student is have a fantastic day, if you were to simply call just when there seemed to be behavioral problems. The students would practically face less consequences and the frequency of the unwanted behavior doesn’t change. Always communicate with the parents on good and bad days. Second, if a parent doesn’t respond to a phone call, at least leave a voice mail, and if that doesn’t seem to work, then start sending letter home. Multiple means of communication sets a good reputation of who you are. Also those messages are bound to reach the parents at some point. Third, when a parent is upset for some reason, make sure to give the proper space and communicate in manner that is always positive. The utilization of paraprofessionals continues to increase as they play an important part in public education’s delivery of educational services to students with disabilities. These same paraprofessionals, however, report challenges with lack of understanding of roles and responsibilities and do not receive adequate training in evidence-based practices and therefore often struggle to deliver instruction with fidelity. The results of this study suggest that a teacher-delivered training package may be one possible way in which these aforementioned issues may be approached. Although research is limited on teacher delivery of training to paraprofessionals, this study provides a promising option to help districts move away from the current model of one-and-done workshops. Future research should focus on developing more streamlined teacher-delivered training to paraprofessionals and also the fidelity with which those training packages are delivered. Especially important will be the exploration of what evidence-based practices would have the highest value in those trainings, and how they can be delivered efficiently, in order to promote paraprofessional implementation fidelity and their understanding of job roles and
For lack of parent involvement as a teacher I would make sure I can get all the parents to participate in the student’s school life because whether they like it or not their parents or guardians involvement means the most. If I can’t get that to happen I will try to insure my students that they can come to me for help and if they need help with anything they can talk to me. I would show my students I care but it works better with both the teachers and parents working as a team.
Effective communication is the foundation to building a trusting partnership and serves as a first step to other types of parent involvement . I started working at the School for the Deaf and Blind in 2011 as a substitute. Initially I thought that I would be working more frequently with the deaf students. However, when a position for a full-time paraprofessional opened up in the department for visual impairments I took the job. I was surrounded by great teachers and other paraprofessionals who have taught me immensely. It was after that first school year that I found my passion. I am continually pushing myself to do better for the students I work with daily. This past spring I have been the Long Term Teacher Substitute for students with visual impairments. Effective communication is a key principle for developing positive relationships with children, young people and adults. By ensuring that communication is effective it provides clarity on what behaviour is expected and a clear understanding of the tasks. In providing this children and young people will feel they are able to join in and it also provides positive experiences in variety of situations. The result is children will feel more at ease within the school setting and with those around them. By listening to what a child, young person or adult has to say a sense of value and self-worth can be achieved, which forms another factor in developing positive relationships, trust.

Working in groups, they can discuss the case study and distinguish ways that the collaboration of work was beneficial to the patient’s needs. I have been a Special Education Para-Educator for eleven years now. My decision to do this was based on the needs of my family and kids. When my last child was born, the doctors did not think that he would make it. He had a heart malfunction and was born with RSV and Von Villibrantds disease (which I did not find out until he was three); those factors lead me to want to work with special education kids, knowing that I could make a difference.

Educating children especially children with special needs is a challenge within its self. As a teacher it is important that this writer makes a positive influence with students. There are going to be certain ideas that one tries to uphold and other discriminations that one will not allow. Everyone has their own beliefs teachers should do what is necessary not to infringe on others, but show children different way to think so that they have all the information needed to make educated choices. If children are taught from an early age they will have the ability to succeed especially children with special needs as an educator my main goal is teaching the purpose of public schools, and education reform.
